0I always saw Drusilla more as Williams friend then a real love/couple relationship as well. I really love reading this story because it always seems to go the way it should and never spins off halfway in the middle you always seem to stay right on track and true to keeping William himsel even in being turned into another soft of life form he is always honest with himself and sees thru other people ok I could go on and on but you get the jist of it in my saying this is a great story and I love reading it

Past the point of needing or wanting a family and past the point of no return in leaving with Dru even as a young fledge he is all Sex Pistols 100 years a head of time. I like how you mix the old with the new and you do a great job in writing al of the characters and showing their real sides.

Author's Response: Spike is all piss and vinegar now, isn't he? That's what I always loved about him on the show, that arrogant swagger, that cockiness that only seemed to go only skin-deep. Humm in a way he is almost hoping for death and at the same time not. Lots of action this time and a lot of sticking with the orginal show storyline to make the events fit and it was very well done I am looking forwatd to Rome and all that will entale.

Author's Response: Like I said in the author's note at the start of Part II, Buffy won't reappear until the first chapter of Part III. We're about halfway through Part II now, so it shouldn't be too much longer. I hope you enjoy the journey until then. Thanks for reviewing. :)

Spike is just going for blood I loved his confrontation with Angelus and just the fact he brings it up and taunts him with it like "Give it your best shot old man you are nothing" I was like "Yesssss!!!" in reading that because Spike would do that and then give him the finger! So well played out I love this story just when I think it cannot get any better it just does and it makes me want to beg for more.

I just sent this story to a friend of mine and saw there was a update and as usual I read this and have a Spike like smirk on my face in how juicy and just wonderful this is. You make him so fearless with his nothing to lose a-tude.
He and Dru are like kids in a candy store excited about finding a Slayer.

Is it just me or Darla being friendly or giving William this info on Rome and the slayers is just a little too helpful?
I know Darla enjoyed evil at its finest but I am worried shes sending him off to his death or worse when Angelus finds them gone, not that he's be worried over William he'd just be ticked about Dru.
Ooooo! I want more please I'm hooked on this more then General Hospital now

This was another sharp, vivid chapter. The subtle differences with canon worked wonderfully, and I really love this more independent, even brasher Spike. Darla's gentle pushing about The Slayer in Rome really suited her cunning nature. Her hatred of Spike had her pushing him toward his own destruction. She's going to be disappointed.

ah the mine shaft...i knew you would do it!! And the Slayer is in Rome huh? Me thinks the Immortal is there too....will you incorporate him in too? The time goes that in 1894 Spike and Angel were in Rome so...isn't that 14 years after this scene you wrote about...so Angelus has to come back and find Spike and Dru after they runaway. Plus, I think i get the feeling that Spike isn't going to have his best luck with this Slayer...since he didn't kill one till 1900. Maybe she dies right before he even gets there.

Author's Response: The Immortal isn't in Rome yet. TGiQ told us that the Immortal arrived in Rome during 1894, and that it was the first time he had been there in 300 years. So, you're right, Spike and Dru won't be running into him as soon as they arrive in Rome. And your feelings on Spike's success (or lack thereof) with the Italian slayer may well prove correct. I'm glad you like the chapter. Thanks for reviewing. :)

In plain sight, there is very little left of the old William: Spike is neither brittle with nerves, pitifully broken into the live of a demon, nor grieving for his human past that had him the town's jest and living with mother - and losing the love of his life. No. This unlife was the the undead. He sees his own waywardness as his direction: hell, it even thwarts the all-powerful, violating Angelus. And now he has a definite beacon to guide him. The Slayer. Happiness of a different kind. Glee.

Here is the Spike that we met in Season Two.

I always feel so sorry for Dru in her constant abuse with Angelus. Even being turned into a vampire never fully changed her from the girl she once was and her relationship with Angelus always made me a bit sick in how he drove her to madess and now only being crazy is what keeps her going. You do a great job in writing for Drusilla not many people can and you always seem to give her a child like grace in her relationship with William much like abused children who side together and try to escape their abuser.

There was also great wit in this in the conversation about Spike's new accent very much in Joss like skill you have great comedic timing in this also I wanna scream for more but I shall be patient :)

Author's Response: I always felt sorry for Dru, as well. And I loved how protective (almost paternal) Spike behaved around her in early season two when she was still ill. Although my version of Spike isn't in love with Dru, I still wanted to convey that protectiveness, as well as a non romantic affection. I'm happy that you like the way I handled that. So he is going for glory and building his reputation I can see why because becoming a big bad is the becoming of Spike and his new persona. I'm a bit hazy on my Buffy gistory here but is it in Rome Angel gets his soul back with the gypsey curse? I cannot recall maybe I should drag out the dvds and see but it make sense if they did go after to collect Dru from Spike and Angelus gets side tracked getting souled an then somehow end up in the Boxer Rebel thing. See my Spuffy-verse history has gone a muck I need to rewatch to keep following this sttory which is outstading a read btw. I am looking forward to your next part in this.

This is a heafty fic I feel like I'm reading A TALE OF TWO CITIRES or WAR AND PEACE only in a Spuffy sort of telling. I really like this and the author is really great in keeping you on your toes guessing and hoping he gets back to Buffy somehow someway. Really a good story it is 100% worth reading
