Even in his confused state he has the need to get back home and to his Mother and fears her worring about him so see we still have a speckle of William in there and I think thats always the most endearing thing about him. This is really really good I kinda want to see how Anne has been processing this all with William being missing for three days and Elizabeth too thought to be dead I think Anne would have had a attack from so much stress and stuff. I have always liked Anne shes just a woman of her time really who married and had a family and tried to have a happy home. I always felt like she didn't deserve her fate in life. Ok I'm talking too much and need to get back to work but this is so juicy its hard not to be thinking about it all day.

Author's Response: That is the best compliment a writer could receive, Saunders...to know that the story remains with the reader throughout the day. Thank you. :)

With the TV series I loved Spike first and then when you learn of his past you love William too and in this story it's the reverse you loved William first and now we have to learn to love Spike. I'm really dying to see how you make me fall in love with your version of the Spike character. So far your off to a great start here in showing the monster now in the man my hat is off to you in how hard it is to write him up a past and show all the inner turmoil he faces. You've taken on a huge undertaking but I think your talents with the pen will see you flying thru this. I for one am blown away with every new chapter and turn you take into making of Spike and his history that all leads him up to a full circle someday with Buffy.

Author's Response: Thank you for the wonderful feedback, SpikesDeb. It means a lot to me to hear that you are enjoying the story that much.

Dru's excitment over his rising is like a kid in a toy store picking out a new dollie creepy and yet childlike at the same time. If you think about it and being turned can you imagine Dru being your sire? It's like trying to figure out how to play the game and your teacher only speaks in latin. And you just know Angel is going to make his new life hell cause he probably will get attached to Dru cause she's the only thing he has so knowing the nature of Angel an Dru's relationship it's just going to be another punch for William to bare. But can I just say I want William to kill off all the people who were bad to him and his Elizabeth. I know I know its wrong ad bad and evil but those two guys who jumped William at the train station are so on the list!

Heehee* As usual I read this story and I just want to shake Spuffy Realm and make more of it appear so I can read it all day. Great job.

Author's Response: That is the perfect analogy for what William is going through with Dru as his sire. I'm glad you liked the chapter, Forbidden Loves. Thanks for reviewing. :)

This section was my favorite part :

(((But the woman shook her head. “You shall live forever.”
Forever. Then, there would be no merciful death, no peace from the burning in his heart. William felt a flash of anger at the girl; this was not what he had thought she was offering him when she approached him in that dark alley.)))

Cause it really showed he wanted his own death over losing Elizabeth. Even with the sex with Dru seems right on because he's so messed up right now from his past life and this new-ness of being turned his confusion in this chapter was perfect. If this is the secondsecond of the story I look forward to what is to come. It is so very good.

Author's Response: Thanks so much. I'm glad you are continuing to enjoy the story. I really appreciate your detailed reviews; they make my day. :)

I love the inner struggle William has in fighting off his humanity and the monster and trying to do both things at once with filling his demon needs and not knowing what he is feeling from those and his human emotions an knowing right from wrong. He's sort of in a haze right now I think his turning point will be returning home now that is going to be life changing er...unlife changing.
Fantastic twist and turns!

Time hole spell portals take time and Buffy can wait a little bit. lol!
William now on the other hand is falling apart and finding his way and I have to say I love it cause you stll have a part of him that is human in his reactions and it still shows he has heart and emotions that he will retain in his becoming of Spike. If this is part II I am loving it!!!

Author's Response: I'm so glad to hear it, Blue Bell Knoll. Not that I don't love Buffy (and Spuffy), but I really wanted to explore William/Spike on his own for a little while. I wanted to put my own spin on what made the man into a monster. I hope you continue to enjoy the story and thanks for reviewing!

You've given us a detailed narrative of William's first few hours as a vampire and in the company of his sire, Drusilla: it shows us the need for blood, the excitement for violence; the disaffecting but very necessary, sex. It confronts William's fledgling dark heart: able to do all these terrible things but still yearning for his light, his Elizabeth.

William's life was, pre-Elizabeth, a seeming tragedy in the making. Post-Elizabeth, the tragedy is most definitely, complete.

Fantastic episode.

I am digging this part two of the story your telling here. So many times people skip over the good parts of the William story and just stick to the Spuffy and I for one think it's cool your going for the gold in this story cause I for one always wanted to see the lost Spike years. I'm really impressed with this cause its very good and I look forward to more to come.

Author's Response: I'm glad you feel that way, inkstained. I've been curious about the origins of Spike for the longest time, but it's hard to find any fanfics about it. So, I just decided to write my own. Thanks for reviewing!

I can seenowwhy Spike would say she was his salvation because of losing Buffy dying was only real way he could find to live again. Not to say it's all blood and peaches cause he does have horrible things to overcome still and will but you did it so gead on in this and made it so compeling you want to see where the man and monster take you.

Please more when you can!!!

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to tell me so. :) Oh...and I love that expression "blood and peaches."

This was intense and good in seeing how it's like to wake up a amp one day and how he is fighting with his old self and new self.

If he thinks he's disgusted now and feeling low wait till he meets Angel. It's always had to read of the changing of William because you have grown to love him and then you love 100 years from now Spike but it's the painful parts of inbetween reading of what made him into the man he was and will be in becoming a creature of the night. Really your doing a great job with this I'm always excited to see when you've added a little bit more to it.

I for one, have to say that I am pleased with the direction that your story has taken. As much as I enjoyed your characterization of William (who was, as so many will agree, so sweet), William is not Spike, nor will he be for many years. William was still meek and mild, and could only muster the courage to defend Buffy and not himself. He allowed himself to be ruled by love for Buffy, catering to her whims, and if we know anything about Buffy, Buffy doesn't need a man who will cater to her. She needs someone who will stand up to her and be her honest partner. Our heroine is headstrong and stubborn, and, in all honesty, she needs someone to keep her in check in a way. I see this glimpse into William as Buffy's chance to see beyond the vampire, and to realize that this persona still resides in Spike, and that the mix of caring gentleman and confident (some would say cocky) warrior is her ideal match.

So I applaud your decision to continue down the path you have chosen, and I ask for other readers who turn squeamish at the though of truly "evil" Spike to remember why you first fell in love with Spike yourself. Was it because he was fumbling and caring and polite? No. It first was because he was strong and cunning and snarky (and that he had a hot bod, let's be honest); the other bits that came later only endeared him to us further. Now think about what must have happened to make him that way and you'll find that's what we are being given to the privilege to view through this fic: the transformation. Because while William was sweet, there is no way that he was "sex on legs" or a cunning warrior. And in all honesty, where would the fun be if Spike never developed and we never got to hear he and Buffy throw sarcastic barbs at one another? Their relationship has always been based on the tension between them, and it would be a shame if that was gone.

Sorry for the ridiculously long review, but I am an appreciative fan of this story and happy for the author's ability to create a great work, instead of a just another fluffy fantasy of guilty pleasure (though those always do have a place in my heart as well). ;)

Author's Response: What a wonderful, insightful review, moonchic. I really appreciate your willingness to comment on specific details of the story and offer your own opinions of them. And you're right, William is not Spike, not yet. His metamorphasis into the "Slayer of Slayers" did not come about overnight. I was always intrigued by the scenes in "Lies My Parents Told Me" where William returned to his mother. It was so obvious from those scenes that he was still fundamentally the same person. I was curious to know what changed him, so I decided to write about it. I'm so glad you are enjoying the story, and thank you for reviewing!

I thought your portrayal of Dru was right on the mark in this. Some writers hate trying to write out Dru and tend to over do it on her crazy or only stick to her lines from episodes but I thought you played her well.

Author's Response: Dru had quite a few lucid moments, as I recall. She just had a knack for making herself look like a basket case even when she wasn't behaving like one. For myself, writing Dru is fun, because she has such an unusual take on language and description. And I was always intrigued by the character, anyway. I'm glad you like the way I wrote her, and I hope you continue to enjoy the story in the future. As always, thanks for reviewing. :)
