When we have reached a point where we think all is good...sigh...Please oh please god don't let Spike get the job of holding those eggs. All through the bar scene i was like 'please no eggs, please no eggs, no eggs come on I don't want to read something about eggs!' And now with this folder of photos tempting Buffy to change her thoughts of maybe Spike can't be good....AH MAN!
I want Buffy to tell Giles that he can cry 'Monster! Monster' all he wants but nothing will break her belief that Spike is capable of good...that he he's a man with some monster inside him and not the other way around. I want Buffy to also broadcast her two cents of what she thinks of the Council and tell them she doesn't want a penny from them. Let's have Buffy pull out a file and see what Giles did in his Ripper days...and ask him 'are you still evil?'

Pretty story that sweeps you up in both the tragedy and roamnce of both times and worlds. If this were a book I would say I couldn'y put it down. More please if you have some time. Emensely entertaining

its funny that spike can see how buffys friends are manipulating her and yet buffy herself is just going along with it. spike has to be frustrated in seeing his girl being treated in this manner and yet he is the one who should be hidden away and kept secret from the very people who are treating buffy badly to begin with. where is giles in all of this is what i wanna know you would thing he being her watcher would know of alternative ways a slayer could make money and have a means of a living. there has to be some darn council meeting for that you would think. i liked how you showed spike and buffy having a argument but in words and not with their fists like in the past they have come a long way in this story

Oh so evil a cliff hanger not knowing if its a good or evil plan spike has up his sleeve. I am looking forward to your next post

He knew what he was doing now, and he didn’t always wait for her to take the lead. She melted under his touch, but the expression in his eyes confused her. Behind the desire, they seemed almost sad, almost pained; it hurt just to look into them. When she asked him why he looked like that, he picked up her hand and put it to his chest, over the place where his heart no longer beat.

It is like he is showing her in a way he does not want to be a secret or that she is his heart.

At last Buffy has open eyes now. She knows well that the other found her a job yet don't support her with money, just staying there without paying rent. *glares at Willow*
Loved Spike trying to console Buffy. He sounds as if he knows where to get money. At the moment that would be very helpful for Buffy.

Yay! Yes Yes Yes!!! You updated!! Can I do a snoopy dance? They are so good together even when they are butting heads both are trying so hard its wonderful to see that.

In so many ways the Scooby's were always putting pressure on Buffy to be this perfect shell of what they deemed as a hero and its cool when you read this you don't make her all on a high horse you give her new multidimensional levels as a character and the same goes for Spike.

Splendid chapter. I love the intuition that Spike possesses in an almost helpless, frustrated manner; at her bidding he stays away so as such he is confined to barracks - the crypt - where he paces away his time and mulls over the injustices that beset his girl. And just like in canon - in fact just like many a classic tale - the boy from the other side of the tracks is thwarted in helping the damsel in distress by the uptight, jealous, narrow-minded and hypocritical friends of the girl. Their established place in her life gives them the power, which they exploit under their shameful act of care and concern.

Only one person gives her comfort, though. Pulls her to his body, hugs her, soothes her and defies all Scooby logic: he is soulless, his heart does not beat, his is evil and drinks blood. Helpful in the past? Yeah, they will give him that. But Buffy? No. Their property.

All those stifling years as a human, despised by other humans. All those decades and decades as a demon and he rose above subjugation. Now, still a demon he is the victim again: prey to the censure of her friends whilst they, rather than he, are responsible for her suffering.

Superb chemistry between Buffy and Spike in your portrayal. They both pick up on their memories of the past amid the vividness and turmoil of here and now and you are making it stronger and more certain. God knows, they need to become invincible in their certainty of each other, because before too long, the sanctuary that they find in each other is going to be the very thing they need.
