They tried to stop her, of course, as they always tried to stop her from doing anything that wasn’t their idea.

This is... alarmingly accurate. Just like they discussed her medical results without her. Yeesh, if my friends and family were that nosey, I'd withdraw too, and I'm not traumatized like Buffy is.

I was surprised that Angel did tell Buffy the truth... I would have expected him to lie, to say he was a completely different person after he was turned, to keep Buffy away from Spike. I have more respect for him for telling the truth, though.

Author's Response: I'm glad you agree with me about the Scoobies. While they obviously cared about her on the series, their love was also judgmental and controlling. They put her on a pedestal and set her up to feel guilty when she wasn't able to live up to their expectations. It was unintentional, of course. But it was still hard on her. I cannot imagine feeling everything so passionately and yet being denied an outlet for it. He wanted to be needed; he wanted to be tender. Our dark little boy. Always so close but never quite makes it. And Giles has planted the seed, that perhaps vampires are more than just shells of their former selves. I can't wait to see that come about. Girl already knows, wonder what it will take for her to believe. Amazing chapter. Always happy when this gets an update.

I am kinda glad Tara didn't tell all the gang about Buffy coming to her and asking to be sent back cause I just don't think they are ready to hear it. Both Willow and Xander are kinda close minded when it comes to seeing that Spike was once a human being and had any goodness in him at all prior to becoming a vampire. I really liked Dawn in this being brave enough to ask Spike the hard questions like if he did ever attack a expecting woman cause then you get to see Spike appaled reaction to it. I read this and then reread this and I kinda get the vibe Spike himself isn't really sure weither or not Buffy could be expecting he sorta bushed it off with a quick answer to Dawn but now I'm not so sure myself which way it will go.
I need more pages to read!!!!!!

Shock and disappointment? That what she was thrown into another time by Willow and that she was found by someone who she recognized and they both fell in love with one another and now its a inconvenience to her watchers and friends? I think they all need a reality check on what they woulda done or not done in the same situation.
I so wanna yell at them myself lol and I'm not even in the story I really like the friendship you have going with Spike and Dawn in this she seems to be the only friendly face he sees. He has done horrible and terrible things but I so want someone to see he's still the man he once was if someone will just take the time to look.

A lot of my friends in blodtdoit on yahoo groups were talking about this story I found I had to read it just to see what all the ta-do was about and now I am just like them and have turned into a huge fan and it is the perfect story to read with Christmas nearing I loved the bracelet and cozy little Christmas morning they had and all the small stolen moments they had together. It was hard watchig it all get ripped away from him and see all the pain he went thru in becoming Spike. I found I wanted him to stay William forever and that is saying a lot considering how much I love Spike. Well anyway I love this and am now addicted to it like everone else online. Do you post weekly or monthly? I for one will be back for more.

I dig how you write out Spike like he pretends not to care and then something is said and his real self comes forth and William pops out. Like in the part with Dawn telling him about the book he forgets his self and immediately wants to know if Buffy was ok after seeing ir or like hearing she went to the Doc he has to know if she is ok. He just cannot stop himself from loving her even when doing it hurts him the most.

Giles just cannot see the innocence that William had or as well as the honor he had as a man in his life before it was all taken away from him leaving him with only pain so that's what he did he went after pain.
I always got the vibe on the show the Scoobies and Giles would have a problem with any guy Buffy was remorely interested in. Because anything other then Slaying in her life just never sits right with them. They always seemed to expect her to be a hero 24/7 and never have any sort of life other then saving their butts all the time.

Author's Response: The Scoobies always struck me as incredibly controlling, too. I never understood why, on the show, Buffy put up with them dictating to her. My Buffy might not always be so complacent, lol. Thanks for the review. :)

Oh im dissapointed that Buffy is not pregnant. Im sure that if she is Spike would be very happy about it and Buffy, too! it might even brought them together.

Another painful chapter this is for Spike and me. I feel sorry for him for trying so hard to achieve his desire but nobody would give him a chance. Now even Dawn doubts him. When will it get better?
