He understand Jessica because he'd been in her shoes in some way.
I don't know what happened (it didn't make sense what I thought because you wrote that Jessica's father was killed) but indeed: William knows Buffy. How good I wonder?
Oh! Indeed, William is Jessie's father. But why is she talking as if it was Riley?
Looking forward to find out :)

It's a pleasant rarity to see a sympathetic Riley that I don't despise and interesting to discover that Buffy was not as chaste as previously implied.

I'm looking forward to reading more about the history and can't wait to see how fate triumphs.
