I had to grin while reading that Buffy checked out Spike on her way to the shower.
So Gunn got tired of babysitting? After seeing how Lindsey used the opportunity of Spike gone and Gunn distracted? I can only say Spike is right to watch him.
Loved the little scene with Spike and Lilly & Logan and his slip "bloody ponce he taught them. *gg* And that he was smiling, showing Buffy another side of him she didn't know yet.
Fun too when he tried to stop thinking of her and slapped himself *grins*
I wonder if Spike will be transfered again before Buffy's training is over (she has nine weeks, we're at week six that means three left. That's around the time Spike will go).

Author's Response: Hee hee, I couldn't help it - she needed a nickname after surprising the hell out of everyone. Oh, Buffy ain't blind, I mean, this is Spike we're talking about here - yummmmmmy. Yeah, Lindsey has the potential to cause some trouble, but it does bring out Spike's possessive/protective streak, which is a good thing. Yup, Buffy needed to see a softer side of Spike, and his interaction with Gunn's twins was just the ticket. As for Spike's transfer - that will come into play in a most unique way, you'll see. Author's Response: Oh yes, Spike is very happy Buffy is single - makes him feel a tad less guilty over his lusty thoughts, giggles. Angel simply had to go - what can I say. They really do let you eat whatever you want before the gas chamber, at least they did during my experience. Lindsey will add a little flavor to the fic, bring out the possessivness in Spike. This is really quite a fascinating view into military life. Except for three Air Force pilots, and only one of them ended up making the military a career, I have had almost no contact with anyone in the military. So this is a most interesting peek into something very foreign to me. I must say that I'm really impressed that anyone makes it through basic training--wow! That said, I have some questions. Obviously I understand that someone in basic training cannot get involved with someone in Spike's position. And I know from TV shows (not that TV is always that accurate) that officers cannot be involved with noncommissioned soldiers right? But what about when Buffy gets out of basic training? Would dating someone of Spike's rank be acceptable or not? Just curious.

Author's Response: Oh good, I'm glad you like the angle for this story and the insight into that kind of life. You'd be surprised by how many make it through basic, I mean sure, it's not for everyone but it really does make you a better person. It makes you really, really, REALLY believe in yourself and capabilities to handle situations full of stress with quick thinking and in a calm manner. In answer to your question, the military regulations now state that officers and enlisted personnel cannot date or marry. I lucked out in that when my husband and I dated and married, the rule was different - it was fine so long as the enlisted person is not in the officer's direct chain of command. My hubby is an officer and I was enlisted. He was in a totally different unit than I was so it was perfectly legal. As far as Buffy and Spike getting involved now? The boot camp situation is a no no. Now, if they were stationed somewhere else in a regular unit then yes it's fine b/c they are both enlisted. As for right now, the only way she could date him is if he wasn't her drill sergeant and velonged to a different unti. I hope that answered your question. NCO's can date lower enlisted, that's not illegal insofar as I know. Thanks for such an awesome review hon, I really appreciate it. Smoochies to you.
