Yay! Chapter 2!! My best friend just wrote me a letter about grenade launchers, tear gas and rope climbing so I'm loving this chapter.

Also, I really enjoy the way you capture their chemistry in little seemingly mundane moments. You do this beautifully in all of your stories and it's the element I most enjoy.

I skimmed this last night before bed and thought "Spike is not sooo terrible." When I re-read it this morning, "yeah, he is pretty much an asshole." It did not make me hate him and obviously since Buffy is looking at his butt, there are parts of her that do not hate hime as well.;-) Some of the things he said to her were pretty cruel and the cheese thing was just gross (this coming from a girl who believes in the 10 second rule), but giving her the opportunity to get her anger out and build her confidence was a good thing. I wonder if anyone will pick up on the “Tha’s my girl, come on.” comment? I had noticed that you are getting through the basic training pretty quickly, only 4 weeks left, right? Does that mean that poor Buffy is going to get stuck with Sgt. Satan? Poor girl. Oh and I meant to comment on the manip in my last review. Honey, that is beyond HOT! If that were on the Uncle Sam poster, women and gay men would be lined up around the block to get in the army. Thanks for another great chapter!!


Author's Response: LMAO. Yeah, he's quite the bung-hole in this one, but it adds to the tension in an oh so delicious way. Oh Buffy might hate him but she's not blind. Nope, no one picked up on the my girl comment, but there will be another moment when that may come out and it will be hard to ignore, hint, hint. i liked how you used the letter to describe buffy's routine and life at the camp, and it's good to see that she's getting along with willow. spike's really mean to her, and even if i do think he wanted her to move on (just for selfish reason i bet), i don't think he saw that coming. i'm wondering if he is more pissed cuz she beat him or cuz she won't be punished for this... :D

Yeah, I figured Buffy's letters were a good way to include some of the military stuff without making it read too terribly dry, especially using soe of that valley girl voice to describe it. Oh Spike is most definetely hapy over her break up, even if he is the King od D-nile right now. He's a good DS though for helping her to channel it, too bad it cost him a blow to his ego and a bloody nose, *giggles*. I think he's more pissed that he can't punish her over what happened b/c believe it or not, it's his job to make her into a good soldier. Thank you very much for the awesome review hon. This is a great story; huge helpings of spiteful, lusty Spike and the emergence of our Buffy. All set in a very different environment than we are used to, but perfect for our two combatants and the trials and tribulations - as well as the Spuffiness - ahead of them.
