Author's Response: Hi sweety. Actually I met my husband at my second duty station - Ft Drum NY. After I came back from being in Korea for a year I thought all men were dogs and I resigned mysefl to not dating and to never marry. Naturally, when I WAN'T looking, that's when my hubby found me and my declaration came to bite me in the ass, giggles. Oh yes, boot camp is no joke. Most of it is psychological and they really do break you down... and HARD. Then they build you up and shape you into a soldier. It's not a fun experience going thru that but it's necessary to create a disciplined person that can answer the call to duty or war. So glad you're enjoying it sweety. Author's Response: Good, I'm glad you like it so far, I have lots of fun stuff planned for it. Yeah, there's nothing better than having personal experience to draw on. Many authors put a little bit of themselves into their stories and this one I'll be putting a lot of myself into because my whole time in the Army was a pretty great experience. I cracked up so many times reading this. I've had several friends go through Army boot camp, plus I'm a fan of military/war movies, so it's so familiar. One of my Reserve friends is getting sent to Iraq for 2 years in March. He's a journalist. I have another friend who went Active duty as a Medic, and is now in Texas for physical therapy schooling. Also know a generator mechanic, and a vehicle mechanic. Had family go through all 4 branches, and my best friend was in the Navy watching RADAR in Iceland all day.

Yeah, I knew a girl who complained like hell about the plain cotton granny panties. She liked wearing tiny things or going commando, so.....not surprisingly, she whined about everything, and got sent home from Boot.

It's a good thing the basic arms don't kick much, or as tiny as Willow and Buffy are, they'd be knocked on their asses. It'd be hilarious trying to see them use the 50-cal.

Author's Response: Yeah, it is kinda hard to picture, but I needed a geek in here and well, he's perfect. There's plenty of his type out there in the Army too, trust me. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the laughs cuz honestly... that stuff really happens. Boot camp is a place that's really tough and harsh but some of THE funniest stuff happens there as well. I could tell you stories that would make you piss your pants, but of course, I'll add some of those into this story, cuz they're too funny not to include. I'm sorry to hear your friend's are going to the desert, they'll be in my prayers. It's good that you know so many friends and family that have gone thru the service, it will definetely enhance the story for you as we go along. Yup, your one friend is no doubt at Ft Sam Houston. That's where I did my AIT to become a medic. If I had to do it over again, I would have chosen physical therapy my self or even Xray tech or lab tech. Oh those granny panties are awful. I didn't complain about it but eeegads, they went in the garbage immediately upon my graduation. LOL, yeah, imagine Buffy firing an M60. When I did I loved it, but having to lay on the ground to fire it and with the huge recoil factor it practically sends your shoulder into shock. I loved Buff's introduction to her new world. Having no idea of what life in the army or even what Basic Training entalis, I think you painted us a very vivid image as to what to expect, along with the basic information on it so we wouldn't be too lost.
