OK--haven't heard of the book, but you've got my attention! Interesting...
A shame they cut X & A out of the group just 'cos they wanted to split off from the group sexual relationship (which of course, may indeed seem in "show" character with X, but definitely not with A! She's a definite multi-tasker!)
Solution: (possibly! A) to make us drool LOTS---and on that note you COULD include lots of flashback very detailed sex scenes, especially that one around the pool and anything upcoming (pun intended) w/Spike!); and B) to fill Anya's multi-tasking shoes---ie, someone who'll bed it if it walks, talks, squeaks, squawks, and ain't been dead for two weeks (of course, in Spike's case there are exceptions....even if this ain't a vamp tale!)! The possible solution being of course to bring Wm./Spike into the group, 'cos even as a 5th (or 7th as the case might be) wheel, he IS as someone somewhere else coined it, the Energizer Bunny of Sex, and he is NOT going to discriminate,,,revolving doors were made for this young man...or should be...
OK, damn you got my mind wandering over to that side of town now...
I'll officially pull it back outta the gutter now!

The three rules sound easy but I bet they aren't.
And as terrible it is what happened to Buffy: neither is it healthy the way the group is. Remind me more on the pack of the hyena, the episode where Xander tried to rape Buffy. *googles* Oh ~ "The Pack" is the name :)
Things should get interesting now with Spike in the mix, moving in next to Buffy.
