What a great chapter. We got some insight on Angel - thank god the ass is dead - and Buffy and William 's talk was so heartfelt. They realy needed it so they both understand where each other is coming from. And she did come right out and tell him she loves him regardless of what he can or can't bring to the table. Now the question is..... will his family pay the ransom? Because honestly, how would they know whether William was truly alive or not? A fifth gear for the Iceland horses? Really? I used to ride horses a lot when I was ounger and I'm trying to imagine what that would feel like, between a trot and a canter, because as a rider you have to adjust your own motions to the movement of a horse. Is it like a fast walk instead of the choppy, clop-clop of a trot? Another brilliant chapter my dear and I'm loving how frequently you're able to update.

Author's Response: yep really five gears...its weird. they would have to ensure William was alive and unharmed (ish) befor paying a ransom.. the equivlant of $645,000... more on that later. yes they love each other, but its a different time, and a different place. more as soon as my beta has tamed the next chapter.

Loved William and Buffy's talk, I really like how open and honest these two characters are. :D
Hmm, *ponders thoughtfully* I know honor is very important, but after re-reading the first chapter I can't help but wonder if William might be right in questioning whether his brothers will pay his ransom... they didn't respect him much and it would be easy to tell their mother he was dead. Well, whatever happens I'm sure it'll be all kinds of interesting. =) Wonderful chapter as always!

A year is not much time together; but as I guessed William would rather leave then stay without money. Honor demands if the ransom is paid. It never crossed my mind that they wouldn't pay it. *wonders what will happen now* (Is Erik = Eirik the same, just a typo? Then maybe the answer arrived.)

He wants to stay with her, but he's got nothing to offer, except himself ;) And she'd want him to stay, but I can understand that he wants to see his family, especially his mother. Tara, on the other side, wants to stay with Willow and has no wish to return. And Connor, he doesn't want to loose Tara, so hopefully he'll marry both Tara and Willow, so Buffy can return to her own hall. With or without William (if he's going home).

I could be reading to much into this, but I found it very interesting that during her little rant with William Buffy remarked that she would learn his ways and work out how she could make money for his hall, looks like the thought of going with William has crossed Buffy's mind. I can't wait to find out what path life is going to take for these two lovers. Fantastic chapter!

Thanks for the lovely update. I have heard many a tale of scrums, as Mr. F. was a rugger (rugby player), as a young college man; such sportsmanship was traditionally & drunkenly followed by bawdy rugger songs in a tavern.
Frankly, I'm surprised Faith didn't pull on shirt & trews or tuck her shift between her legs & up thru her belt and get out there to play as well...if ba is anything like rugby, then the slogan "Ruggers eat their dead" applies.

Also wanted to recommend to anyone that has gotten bitten by the Norse-ish bug---check out a modern band, euro-metal-ish, but w/a female lead w/ a great voice, called Leaves Eyes. Their songs revolve around Norse history & lifestyle. I found them on a free internet radio site called Pandora.com... if you go there you can type in that band's name & listen to them & others similar to them. Or Limewire.com has lots to d/l.

Enjoyed the update a lot :) Especially so quick ones.
Buffy and William managed to get over that hurdle ('beneath me') for now. I hope even for good. Would be a good step. But Connor's offer.... very tempting indeed. My guess is though that William will go back, getting (becoming) something he thinks worthy for Buffy.
