why does he think she would go that far with the act? he should be able to tell it's real, i hope they have a real conversation about it soon, and that buffy tells him about the baby.

Author's Response: Spike has never been truly loved and so he's not trusting what he thinks he sees. Experience tells him that he's not good enough. Poor fella.

DAMNIT, WHY CANT HE CONFRONT HER AND THEN SHE'LL TELL HIM THE TRUTH AND THEY CAN FINALLY BE TOGETHER!! i LOVE this story and am so happy that u updated. awww spike was cute wen he kissed the girls wounds and im so glad that spike and buffy did it though i wish he knew that she wants to be with him. i really hope that spike finds out that she not acting really, really soon and that she tells him about the baby. also i hope that everything works out well and that they end up together and happy. This made me want to cry. My heart is breaking. I feel really bad for Spike even if I know how Buffy really feels. Great chapter.

What a great chapter! I'm so addicted to this story. i feel so sorry for Spike and I can understand why he is so upset but at the same time, he is kind of stupid. Buffy really is not the person to use sex as a weapon, totally the exact opposite. She could NEVER fake something like that. if she really still hated him, boy would he know. So sadly, although I feel bad for him, he is kinda being stupid. But emotions can do that to a person. Can't wait for the next update and all the revelations.

Still not okay, Spike is still angry. At the begin of the chapter they didn't really listen what the other said so the misunderstanding is still there. Even when Buffy came back to visit Spike. Hopefully he'll believe her at last that he will become a father. Buffy has some convincing to do that she loves him.
Looking forward to more.

ooh! happy belated birthday! i hope it was fun.
loved this chapter. everything between spike and buffy is all sweet and progressing nicely, and then the oddly peaceful reception at giles' started to feel off. and then bam! they've gone and made spike hurt and mad. am looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

I'm one of those annoying people who hardly ever leave a comment, but I had to inform you that this just became my favorite WIP! I'm probably in the minority here, but I think this twist is absolutely delicious. Happy ending only tastes sweeter when it's hard to get there - and I'm counting on happy ending.

I loved this chapter. I was sooo happy about everything that happened in the first part and then... *sigh* I could only imagine how Spike must have felt. Poor him.

Poor Spike.. knows they want the gem and thinks Buffy is being nice just to get it .. again. Poor Spike.. still loves the Slayer.. And Xander on his side?

It was all going too well. The patrolling was like dating, with violence! Buffy was learning to trust Spike, to even admire him. Of course something would have to happen to derail it all.

I know that Buffy has real feelings for Spike, but he eavesdropped on just the right conversation to put him into a tail spin. I ope he doesn't take his anger out on anyone close to Buffy, or Buffy herself.

I'm looking forward to how you resolve this.

The flirting under the nose of Giles (under the table) was fun.
