It kind of reminds me of planet of the apes--Spike (Charles Heston) being the only one talking and Buffy not able to respond because she'd be a slave to this hell. And I'm guessing the walls tell a story...like hieroglyphics...but not a pleasant one. Probably Buffy wrote everything down when she first got to hell and after a while she forgot how to write...and then that led her not to keep track of her memories. She probably tried to remember her name at one point in time, but then after a while she probably didn't see the point to remember it.
And is it me or does it feel like there is more to this hell then just the loneliness? I wonder if there is breakdown of what made Buffy forget...perhaps hell started out differently...Angelus....the Master...yada yada yada...but then it got down to this....pure loneliness. And what are those whispers?

What a fantastic chapter! Very powerful and painful stuff, to be utterly alone for so long. I'm glad Spike was finally able to get close to her. Poor Buffy, but at least she has Spike to touch. Wonder what she's going to say when she can talk again. Really amazing story, and so looking forward to more!

This is such a great story. One thing that a lot of stories and the show itself lack is the idea of immensity tied into emotion. This story does that very well. Love it, want more.

You deliver incredible, articulate, consummately emotive words that, like Spike, inch us ever so carefully towards this cornered treasure...... and when the touch comes .....

Absolutely bloody magnificent.

Spike was going through the moments. Like a shy animal, running away. Seems Spike found the key, not words, just touches. So he proofed he wasn't a ghost. She was too long alone.

What a beautiful chapter ! Everything Spike is feeling just jumps off the screen and I feel it too. Poor Spike still feels so guilty about Buffy jumping and him not finding her sooner. *so sad*. Buffy is going to need so much help to find herself again.. Loved the last line.."In that moment they belonged to each other." :)

The river of blood was a welcome respite for Spike, though it represents something awful for Buffy. It brought Spike back up to a level of normalcy that I wasn't expecting so soon. I enjoyed the mundane details of hunting down a place to wash and getting a new set of clothing. It let the eeriness of this place seep in. The normal look and complete emptiness of Buffy's nightmare landscape is chilling.

If time is passing like it did for Spike, she's been here, alone, for eons. She must be completely mad by now.

If he thought Buffy was a pill when she was alive ......then this hellacious Buffy is gonna be a doozy........ can't wait.
