Having slightly more Spike POV works well in this chapter because of how passionate we expect him to be towards Buffy. Who hasn't had those little moments of trying to reign their libido in during that awkward, take-it-slow stage. It's too bad that they don't quite realize that they have a budding romance.

What I love most about your story is the slow build you're giving us. It's like climbing a forest trail--you can feel the temperature cooling, the air thinning, catch glimpses of the view (the kiss), but enjoying the little things along the way until you can get the full panorama. Great chapter.

Ah... both are back in denial aka Spike didn't tell the truth but know very well what the reason was that he didn't tell.
Not telling the truth doesn't help him to figure out things.
That won't make things easier in the future; looking forward to read.

Ah yes the handwringing...familiar spuffy territory I know and love. I liked how you built the tension, especially at the beginning...I liked that single line lyric...Just thinking of the placebo songs adds to the mood

I just want to smack Spike and Buffy's head. They are so in denial about their feelings. I hope one of them is at least brave enough to say the truth and soon. Something tells me that is is going to be Spike first that tells Buffy how he really feels because Buffy doesn't seem brave enough to.

Wow, great chapter. How was that kiss such a small thing and a big thing at the same time? It was written brilliantly. I really like the Placebo lyrics in the story, they fit really well.

You're evil to tease the readers like that. That was not luke warm. It's more like a deep flush or slow boil. Like how your Spike wouldn't let Buffy run away until she actually voiced her objection. At least their confusion is mutual and without any past squickiness references. Poem bookend to the chapter was a nice touch. I'm so poetry-illiterate...is it yours?

Author's Response: Its a song by Placebo, that one is called '36 degrees'...Its why i like Placebo so much, because their lyrics are very poetic... All the Chapters are named after Placebo songs and the lyrics to the chapter song will pop up everynow and again... Oh and I like "deep flush" I think thats a gd description :P Thanx for your comment, I hope you keep reading!

She still doesn't get it? Can I dare hope that this Buffy has not been damaged by Angel, Parker, or Riley?

It would explain a bit more about this Buffy. Or it could be because she just doesn't know what to make of Spike still yet. Can't wait to read what Spike felt after that little peck.

Author's Response: No plans for Parker or Angel past or present...although Riley will make a small appearance much later on in the fic...but I've never been a lover or hater of Riley...to me he's BLAH so theres no real Buffy/Riley either (thats a little spoiler but I'm not giving you any more just yet lol)
