What a great story! I like your turn of events much better than what actually happened. Lol Poor Angel. And no one even knew the truth about him. Terrific job at keeping Spike the Big Bad while still helping out Buffy and hopefully falling for her. This is a great characterization of him.

So the Harvest was a bust for the master. I can't wait to see how you weave what happened the rest of the season and possibly season two as well into the rest of the story. .

HA! Spike's outlook on everything and his arguments with Buffy are perfect, added to what we already expected to happen with the Harvest. Now things can get interesting!
Spike's threat of making Buffy his minion and the description he gave will stay with her, I'm sure, and I bet she brings it up in fights to come when she thinks that will be the result if she loses. Wonder how quickly she can improve with the kind of focused training Spike is spurring her to? Really happy this updated and looking forward to more!

I wondered if Buffy would get to Willow in time; seems the did but it was more work than she expected. Luke was indeed strong. Jesse is lost now I fear.
Though Willow has a point - it could have been worse, Willow and Xander dead too. They can be thankful.
Loved the banter between Buffy and Spike.
The game isn't over... and me, I'm looking forward to more.

I really like reading your version of Spike, scoping out the area and being careful and showing his intelligence. His thoughts early on about Drusilla going off with a Provilax demon and knowing his desire to be cared for by someone else, chosen, fit his personality and feelings so perfectly, and neatly get Dru out of the way for him to figure out what Buffy could be to him. Looking forward to their next 'fight' and what they might let slip when arguing. Please update soon!!

I think I've read every one of your stories (likely without ever commenting), so I was quite pleased to see something new from you! There aren't many season 1 Spuffy fics, but I must say I'm liking how you've worked Spike into the mix. Buffy's staking of Angel was a surprise and a good way of getting him out of the way -- and so anticlimactic that it really was as funny as Spike thought. Great start and I can't wait to read the rest.

Author's Response: I hadn't tried season 1 before precisely because Spike wouldn't be there, then SBfan suggested he should and the possibilities just flowered. I couldn't resist the joke in having Angel taken out so simply. He'd be just any other vamp to Buffy and with him being so coy and not saying he was sent to help, she would dust him. Thank you for liking the story so far!

Author's Response: I never understood why Angel had to be so coy and not say that he was there to help. Or that Buffy wouldn't know that he was a vamp. A Slayer should have sensed it. I couldn't resist the joke of taking Angel out just like that and it's fun exploring the difference in Spike's methods from Angel's methods in canon. I'm so glad you're liking it!

So excited to see this, cause I love your stories!! Loved this first chappie. Evil, snarky soulless Spike is so HOT! And Angel is dust and there's no Dru, YAY! LOVE that. And this is before Buffy got all hard and cynical and now there's no Angel to screw her up, so I can't wait to see how you get them together. And that kiss was hot. :)
