okay, what the hell? i get angst and drama, but i feel like you're just forcing it right now, that you want to cause trouble for them when there really isn't any. this makes no sense to me, buffy's feelings came out of nowhere, there was nothing before that showed she wanted to break up. things were fine between them, and all of a sudden, they're not, sorry, i don't buy that. i think she's being really ridiculous right now. that's a stupid reason to break up with someone, especially if you love them.
Author's Response: Hi....I wasn't trying to force this. I had laid some hints throughout the story...once during first date when Buffy told Spike that she didn't want to discuss the law at all....knowing that it would start a fight. In All Hallows eve, when she looked upon Spike as he stood on the stairs with Darla, she asked herself if they would survive. Maybe these were subtle hints. I did add a few sentences to All Hallows Eve, hopefully that will make this flow better

I think buffy's reasoning is wrong. She is being self righteous as usual and not being honest with herself. No one likes Defense attorneys until they need one. A lawyer's job is to make sure a person's constitutional rights are protected. The Prosecutor (D.A.) is representing the State and not the victim. They have the same responsibility to uphold the constitution. A Defense attorney's motives are just as pure, even though most people don't understand that. I am a Defense attorney and I believe that my work is important, otherwise we should just return to a Star Chamber.
Author's Response: I completely agree. Numerous members of society think that defense attorneys are shade etc. which is not true. One that is doing their job should not be equated with those that they work with. Unfortuanally most people don't think that way. I had to look up what a Star Chamber was, but I agree if there wasn't two sides of the law, those that have the power and money would completely rule the world

Delurking to say that while opposites attract, it is not unrealistic to recognize that core values of morality would eat away at this staunch defender of justice-Buffy. What she fails to recognize is Spike's own disgust with what he is doing as you mentioned previously. They both need to reconcile their professional lives with their personal lives. The story can't all be lust bunnies and flowers. Have faith in your readers. We know you'll give us happily ever after.

I'm glad they got to have their fun. But it's still a little sad that Lorne left Angel. I don't know why that bums me out, but I don't imagine it's easy to get over Lorne. I think I love the chapters with Spike & Buffy talking to their friends as much as the Spuffyrific chapters. These chapters add new dimensions to the characters and are just plain fun. Especially love Clem! Should be VERY interesting with the trial. Can't wait even if it is nerve-wracking. :-)
