I like how you used the last two characters for your ending - especially now that D'Hoffryn is playing such an important part in the comic books.
Also have to say how much I like your treatment for Xander - let him grow up and not be the jerk that he is so often depicted as in Spuffy fanficiton.

NICE Xander chapter - not a character that I particularly liked in the series, but I like your having him look at himself with a lot more self-awareness than the series did regarding the marriage that never was.

I just read this whole story from start to finish and I loved it! I wish that the show went this way. I loved Buffy. Sure she was a jerk but you still let her have a heart and you really displayed the reason behind her faults. And how could i not love Spike in this story! He was sweet, and kind and wonderful! And of course I thought what you did with Xander was also wonderful. So often I read stories that are SO black in white where he is only the asshole jerk and it's frustrating. You actually showed the heart underneath him and the other characters.

I'm all congested with the sobbing this story incited. I REALLY wish :) that even a brief glimpse of what you gave us in this fic was what the characters admitted/experienced/received. This is out there in the ether for us to all marvel and love in a gift of 6 chapters. Your story was amazing with a poetic title that drew me in right from the start. Thank you so much for this tale.
Author's Response: *blushes* Thank you. Thank you for reading and the lovely reviews. I am delighted it captured you and held your interest. K

Angel's reaction to Buffy's death--meditating in a monastery and being a completely selfish poofter fits so well with character that I am blurring the line between your fic and canon. Of course Spike would continue the good fight to ease Buffy's burden in whatever means he could...So sad that Tara had to still be victim to Warren, but glad Anya got support from Giles. They totally should have had a fling a la Tabula rasa.
Author's Response: Not blurring....that is what he did do in canon! He was told Buffy had died and headed off to a monastery (then came back and ignored any mention of Buffy at all....started his flirting with Cordy in fact!)
I always thought that Tara was the price Willow was made to pay for bringing Buffy back so as much as I adore Tara I had to let her die.
Yes Giles and Anya would have made so much sense and been fun along with it.

Willow atonement was also sorely lacking. Thanks for remyding. That "normal" is defined by a happy Spike-as-husband scenario sans Dawn is pretty much Buffy resentment shining through. Buffy was wrenched back into life because of Dawn; plus no need to share Spike with Niblet.
Author's Response: That was my thought on Normal Again too.
Yes, Willow, like all the characters in S6 needed to learn and grow.

The "monsterous" behavior is revealed by none other than Xander. I wish it were true! Missing Spike--but his absence only seems to emphasize his importance in Buffy's life.
Author's Response: Yes she needed Spike to leave to see the hole left behind. Not just sex but as her friend and confidant. She's learning. k
