Oooo - tense. Spike really blew it there. He seems to have a hard time controlling his passions when it comes to Buffy. I'm very interested to see how you make these characters grow & then bring them back together. Nice job :)

Hopefully Spike can stop obsessing on Buffy to get over his jealousy. And hopefully Buffy can stop obsessing on one lie, when her prior life with Angel was so much more screwed up. Besides, I remember hearing something about people in glass houses not casting stones, or some such nonsense. Looking forward to another brilliant chapter! I'm really glad you rekindled this baby!

Spike needs to learn to cut the jealousy. Loved it though especially Lorne's role in all this. Cant' wait to see where it leads.

Okay, I'm reviewing and yes, I'm going to be nice...lol! I really do think you're doing a great job with this story. It's not possible for you to write a story and not have it be great. Who cares what anyone else has to say about it? You rock and that's all you need to know. Okay, I just needed to say that. Great work=)

I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S BECAUSE I'M IN A BAD MOOD ORNOT,BUT BUFFY'S REALLY ANNOYD ME IN THIS CHAPTER. I'M ANGRY AT THE WAY SHE KEEPS REJECTING SPOIKE, MAYBE YU SHOULD HAVE HAD ANGEL STAY SO HE COULD CONTINUE TO TREAT HER BADLY,THE WAY SHE PINES OVER HER LOVE FOR HIM IS SICKENING, AND CAN;T YU HAVE LORNE SHUT UPWITH HIS ADVISE TO "STAY AWAY"
I LOVE YOUR FICS AND TRUST YU TO HAVE A SPUFY HAPPY ENDING, BUT THE LAST 4 CHAPTERS HAVE REALLY TEE'D ME OFF.

Man.. i'm kinda torn.. i understand Buffy and then again i don't..confusing huh? Ok on the Lindsey situation...i work with kids everyday and for Buffy to believe that Lindsey doesn't know something is going on is stupid on her part..she knows... that's why she is asking but children will hide their feelings and emotions too..she has to wander what has happen even if she never asks. As a child of divorce whenever my stepdad and mom had a argument even when they tried to shield us from it i use to wander if he was going to leave like my dad. My issues i know. I can Proudly say they have made it together and happily married for 26yrs.

Ok... you are really hard on Spike i mean no love here for him. The only joy i see with him is if he is with lindsey. You said in a author response that he never came forward about Lindsey(i hope i read that right). Yes that is true he didn't but he had more than hisself to consider..there was Lindsey but also his frienship with Angel and Angel and Buffy's marriage. In the end i think he made the best choice he could make at the time. He put Lindsey first so she would not be confused and divided in loyalties and took what ever time he could with her when he visted as the loving Uncle Spike. I can only say that if you are not really going to write anything good about Spike don't let him wait around on her. Let him show her that he is strong and that as hard as it is he can in fact move on from her. Let him have a life other than waiting on Buffy. Who knows seeing him with someone else may be what she needs to kick her but in gear where he is concerned to either let him go or to go for it. I think Buffy is talking the big talk about Spike moving on to someone else because i feel that if he did she will not be happy.

I hope i have been able to get my thoughts across to you without offending you or you story. It's very realistic and believable and as much as it breaks my heart to read i will continue just to see where it all ends. But at the moment i don't see them ending up together. But you are the writer so let your muse free to take us where it wants to go . Great story. :-)..N

Author's Response: It does seem as if Spike is being made the punching bag here. I still have love for him. I see him as having gotten a shitty deal with Buffy right now -- as she is now realizing, and trying to fix. Key word is trying lol. I guess I see this story as more of a journey for Buffy than Spuffy. Plus I see this as a meditation of human nature and how humans can flub up big time and how they can get themeseleves out if they so choose to. Originally it was mean to be a meditation on the concepts of destiny and fate, but the story has kind of grown and taken on a life of its own now. Yes, I agree Spike had his reasons for not coming forward, but so did Buffy. I suppose I'm trying to show there are two sides to this: Spike's side and Buffy's side. Neither is completely innocent nor completely guilty. Buffy is starting to see her part in all this and that alone is a feat on the path to enlightenment. As humans we don't always want to see what we've done wrong. She lashes out at him, yes, but he's also set himself up like that. And Buffy will come to see the reasons why she does it. She's got a lot of work to do, but I think of her as a woman reacting to what's given to her. She's been in one pattern for so long and is now discovering what that pattern was and how to get out of it. Not always an easy task. Honestly, I feel that Buffy would be hurt if she saw him with someone else, but at the same time, relieved. He puts a lot on her that she can't deal with. Part of my problem in writing this story is that I relate to Buffy more than Spike. Author hazard I guess? I focus on her, because I feel its more about her and the journey she's got to go through. Over the next few chapters I'm hoping to bring that about more and bring in a healthier Spike. You haven't offended me. It helps me to write, believe it or not. Allows me to see the story objectively and prepare for future chapters. Thanks!

LOL! Maybe it's just my crappy day talking but I think she was a little hard on Spike. I mean, how would she feel if the shoe was on the other foot & making an appointment with a female? Sorry...probably not a very useful review huh? Liked the chapter, just not how she's handling Spike.

Author's Response: Yeah, she might have been lol. I don't know, I know what I'm like when I have a mood swing. When you just get all of a sudden angry and then suddenly someone's in your face...that's why I call myself "Brat" lol.

i am still reading and I like your stories but I would really like for spike to move on and just take an active role in his child's life. perhaps buffy's therapy should focus on her mistakes and not others.

Author's Response: She is taking the steps to see her mistakes. She knows she's not innocent.

Wow... Buffy really told Spike that she doesn't know if she can trust him any longer? That's hard if you get told such a thing. Spike didn't take it well. ~ Let's hope Lorne will be able to help Buffy getting better.

I kind of feel weird about this story. I really like the plot, and your characterization is really good. I don't dislike either character at all. But it's like, I think it's going to be hard for me to ever believe Buffy loves Spike. He's just so pathetic. And asking her if they'll be together when she works stuff out, when she's really not given him any reason to think that he was ever more than a moment of weakness on her part. I just don't sense that she really feels for him at all. I get more conflicted feelings on her part for Angel than I do for Spike. With Spike, it just kind of feels like she's annoyed by him but determined to put up with him for Lindsay's sake. The way she talks down to him, and the way he's always mopey, and she's always exasperated with him, I don't even get real hurt or anger from her. I just kind of feel like she feels stuck with Spike. So I guess I'm hoping that I don't still feel like that if they ever get back together.

Okay, I know Buffy's been through a lot, but ugh...she's still being a bitch...and lying to her daughter.

'Cause yeah, it kind of is Spike's business if A) she says she's not looking for a guy, and then goes for one, making her a liar to him; B) Any people around Buffy are also around his daughter, making it his concern who is around his little girl; C) Buffy just told him she doesn't know if they'll get together in the future, so she's still holding him available. It's understandable that hearing her make a "date" with a male name is going to make him a bit pissed off.

Author's Response: I guess I'm not really seeing how Buffy is lying to Lindsey. I know plenty of parents who don't let their kids see that they are having problems, it's often times hard on the child to see such things. I don't think keeping Lindsey in the dark about anything amiss with her and Spike is wrong. She doesn't want to cause any more upset to the little girl. Plus, she's not looking for a guy, she's seeking help from Lorne as a therapist. She honestly doesn't know if they'll be together and she did tell him in a previous chapter to move on. And Lindsey isn't going to be around Lorne, at least not that I have plans for yet anyway lol. Thank you for the review :)

Gosh, I know Buffy has been put through the emotional ringer here, and I know she is dealing with it the nest way she knows how, and I also know that Spike is also at fault and he is no prince here....BUT...

Whether she realises it or not, Buffy is being hypocritical of the lying...Spike lying to her was wrong and she was right in saying that even one lie can destroy everything...but when she says that, she seems to forget her own lie. I know she thinks she had good reason for keeping Lindsay from her at the time, but Spike also thought he had good reason, and she gives him all the emotional hurt over his one lie, when he has easily forgiven her for her own lie.

I don't understand this line... " You accuse me of making you the enemy so much, well you know what? You’re not much better when it comes to me.” ...because I have never seen a part where Spike rips into her like she is ripping in to him over Lindsay.

My wishes for this story is obviously they find a way to work this out, and I know it will be a long and worth while journey, and I know Buffy will find her inner peace and move on, but what I hope for is to see Spike find his inner peace and come to except his part in all of this and move on. I guess bottom line, I hope Spike doesen't chase after her begging for forgiveness until she doles it out, I'd like to see him stand on his own for a bit.

Author's Response: Hi! :) What Buffy means is that when she tries to explain to him what she's doing and why -- giving them both space so they won't tear into each other anymore -- he lashes out and snarks at her for this or that. He hasn't forgiven her for Lindsey, not completely. He brings it up an awful lot about she was kept from him. Which, yes, understandable. However, he did know and he never came forward either. I don't see either of them as completely innocent or completely guilty. Each of them had a hand in all that has gone down. Buffy is trying desperately hard to find her way out and muddle through the mess to make things right for her, for Lindsey, and believe it or not, for Spike as well. She could have kept Lindsey from him altogether, yet she hasn't, and she won't. And part of her sending Lindsey to daycare is so that the negativity that surrounds these two don't affect Lindsey and so they can both heal. It's often hard to take responsibility for your own actions. You always justify them or give reason for them. However, it's so much easier to blame others for all that's gone wrong. Buffy is starting to see that now. She's not perfect at it, but she's starting to. That is a step in the right direction for her as well as for Spike. Thank you for reviewing :) I must be doing my job if I'm getting such reactions :)

I must be a masichist because I hate seeing them fight like this and it makes me so sad and upset, yet I love this story and keep coming back for more. I feel so bad for Spike right now. It would be nice to see his view of things. At this point, I can't ever see them together. Great follow up chapter.

Author's Response: Well, never say never...It'll be a long winding road, that's for sure.

As a children's counselor, I'm really hating this self-righteous Buffy without a leg to stand on. She is holding Spike to a different standard with his lying. If she doesn't want to be with Spike, that is one thing. But to pretend she can't trust him and he is changed in her eyes because of a lie is ridiculous. Someone should point out to her that if her reasoning was true, her daughter should never trust her again and also think differently of her. She lied to her daughter for all of her life. Would she like Lindsey to treat her the way she is treating Spike? I doubt it. She thinks she is above that. From what I can tell, she has lied to more people more often than Spike. But Spike can't be trusted and she can? Again, I don't care about the Spike/Buffy issue as much. They are adults and if he stupid enough to be an emotional punching bag to Buffy that's his decision. But since Buffy is a mother, I think she should at least try to be a little more fair, moral and strong for her daughter. My opinion is she needs counseling on being a better mother first - than can work on maybe being with someone. Obviously your story must be good. I never get this riled up.

Author's Response: I'm sorry? Or, thank you? lol. Well, the whole point of Buffy doing what she's doing now is to keep Spike from continuing to be her punching bag. Plus, she is trying to own up to her own mistakes. She's got a lot to muddle through. I have a hard time feeling a lot of pity for Spike, I have to admit. It's not that I don't feel bad because he's getting the crap beat out of him for this one mistake, but at the same time, one lie, no matter how big or small, can be devastating to a relationship. They've both got some work to do, not just one. Plus ,she is trying hard not to let Lindsey know what's going on between them. I don't think of either of them as morally irreprehensible people. I see them as having made poor decisions and having gotten caught up in things they thought were right for them and those around them and really, it all just blew up in their face. The important thing is that this is a turning point because Buffy does see where she veered wrong and now wants to fix it. Believe it or not, she is trying to do right by Spike here, despite how angry she is with him. Thank you for reviewing :) Haven't gotten a "grr, but great job" in a long time :) Keeps me on my toes!
