Sooo pleased to see an update on this one...though the updates aren't thick and fast I find each one is worth the (excrutiating) wait. When I got to the end of this chapter I was struck by what appeared a significant evolution in the relationship between Buffy & Spike. While apparently new something in the update seemed familiar however and I couldn't figure out what so I went back over earlier chapters and found it. In chapter 10 we have Spike's first expression of gratitude - his first acknowledgement of his (probably better than deserved) treatment. There at the end of the chapter he thanks The Slayer. This time however he thanks Buffy. Small change. HUGE development. That was very cleverly done.

Interesting night......the changes continue to make a difference. That was pretty mature, for Buffy.

Buffy was right with the feeling that something could go wrong: The shopkeeper was dead. ~ In a way it's good to see Spike having this feelings; but he fights against them very hard (sympathy and concern).
Intense chapter, intense scene between Buffy and Spike, especially in the shop. Buffy is right about that thing. . A love that's only one sided isn't real love at all no matter how strong the feelings are.
Buffy learned it the hard way. Spike is running towards his own disaster (misfortune, calamity). There's nothing, as it seems, that Buffy can do about it.
As I said, intense chapter, with all the emotions. Loved it, hopefully till soon.

You are taking a long time for some spuffy action. I know it is your story but is there going to be some spuffy action soon.

Author's Response: okay normally i don't do this but..... If you take a look at their interactions at this point Spike is still in love with Dru. He doesn't acknowledge he even likes Buffy at this point because dru is his whole world. He needs time to come to grips with the fact that not only does Dru not love him which he does know but doesn't want too but that she doesnt even want him in her unlife. Besides part of Spike's draw for all of us is that devotion to people he loves if he just ended up with Buffy he wouldn't be Spike would he. What you're looking for is how Buffy is changing with every conversation she has with him. The point I'm trying to make is yes it will be a little while longer before you see what you're looking for but none of my stories are particularly short and I want to stay as true to who they are as possible. Spike just didn't jump up in the third season and realize he was in love with Buffy. The idea of even liking her is horrifying for him. give it time and you'll see. Besides most of the fun is the journey of how they get together. not the gratutious sex that follows.

Love it, What Buffy did was right. Why did she just forget about what he did on the show. Like the fact that she can't trust him but she is trusting Spike, is that because she got to know him in his time of needing her help. More Please.
