God I hope she listens to him and what he has to say. Will he catch her snooping? I'm glad I'm not having to wait for updates at this point. I'm ready to jump out of my skin. I just Angelus had to have had something to do with it. He had custody, which means he had control over the money too, I'd bet. Fantastic work Cas, thanks.

Author's Response: Will he catch her - yes, and no. Neither is really willing to be honest with the other at this point, and that creates problems. And yes, Angelus having had custody was a bad thing.

Oh.. more faces in the pictures. But he tells Buffy now what he remembers. ~ And yet Buffy is acting professional; trying to get evidence against Spike. So she'll tell Giles about everything she saw there I fear think. Agent Buffy is in the driver seat. I wonder to what it will lead.

Author's Response: To more interesting discoveries, and a world of trouble. Buffy is afraid of getting hurt in the relationship, and the more afraid she gets, the more professional she becomes.

Oh oki....well if it's only a panick button his loose lips might not sink the ship, I was under the impression that it was a recording device that was on all the time panick button works. You should also consider that if Buffy went into his study with the keypad lock at knight it would most certanly be logged in some database. The same principle applies to that as with any security meassure, if he almost never steps into that room at night it will probably get red flagged imediatly. To be honest I think that for some one who has killed peeople in his past he is not nearly as paranoid as he should be, even if he did it in self defense I would think that he would be a little more careful about what he says.

Author's Response: Yes, Buffy is definitely out of her depth in dealing with Spike's security system. She is not really supposed to be doing what she chooses to do in the next chapter. I don;t think Spike ever considered Buffy to be a possible threat - after all he knew and was friendly with Joyce for many years. And then there's the minor detail that he is in love with her, and thinks (hopes) that she might be in love with him too. I think there's a part of him that wants to come clean and be forgiven.

I'm kind of creeped out about the image behind the waterfall, but in psychology, his subconscious showing through his painting kind of makes sense. I can't wait to read more of your wonderful story! Please update soon?

Author's Response: Thanks, and yes it is way more creepy than what I had first envisioned. But I equate this Spike as somewhat similar to Spike when first ensouled. Usually, but not always, holding it together.

What a Brat! He's going to be so heartbroken! Aww...

Author's Response: Who's the brat, Buffy? I guess so. And Spike is definately heartbroken already, but its gonna get worse.

Wow! Gret update. Perhaps Buffy should talk to Tara again and get her perspective on the paintings. The fact that Angel was i n Hong Kong with Spike leads me to believe he is definitely involved and more than likely set the whole thing up. Perhaps, he was the one that did the actual killing. I guess I just don't want to believe Spike is a serial killer, whatever.

Author's Response: Yes, she definately will. Spike has a good friend in Tara, and she will be a terrific help to him (and Buffy). But things will get worse before they get better, and then worse again. In some surprising ways.

When Spike said that Angelus probably had something to do with the death of the Chinese girl, all I could think about was Tara saying the same thing. And maybe what I want to happen is influencing my judgment, but I still think that Spike is too broken up about everything for the murders to have been intentional, for him anyway. Either way, this was an excellent chapter.

Author's Response: Thanks. Eventually of course we'll find out about all the accusations and what Spike has to say about it.

Dang, I accidentally reviewed the first chapter when I meant to have it posted as a review for this one. :( Hope you can move it cause it could be a sucky situation for anyone reading reviews - they may be spoiled. Sorry about that.

Author's Response: NO Probs. Glad you figured out how to move or repost it. And Hey, it counts as an extra review in my tally column!!!!

Hmm can't really see Spike getting out of this one. Once the evidence is in he's a dead man. No two ways about it, I mean american prisons are filled with innocent people so I doubt that he would get off when all the circumstantial evidence points to him. Hell they even have an admission of him killing some one, be it in self defense or not. All things considered he would most certanly get convicted. I can't really see how he will get away from this, there are just too much evidence against him and the law isn't exactly known for trying to get to the truth.

Author's Response: Well, if you want to take the cynical route, you must also consider that Spike is a very wealthy and presumably powerful man. People with good lawyers typically manage to stay out of jail a la OJ Simpson. Plus almost all evidence against him has been illegally obtained (I would think - I'm no expert here.) Finally, only one of the suspected crimes happened on US soil. In order to try him for crimes overseas he'd have to be extradited and tried in the country where the crime was committed. Plus, via your previous comment, I'm not sure that the conversation is actually being monitored/taped, or whether she just has a panic button to call in help that is stationed nearby. What do you think?
