*reaches for a kleenex* Spike's musings throughout the chapter were so heartwrenching, as were the reunions between Spike and Buffy in his cell, and Spike and his girls in Devon. Uh oh! Travers behavior in the flashback was really worrisome, should be interesting to find out what diabolical plan he set in motion before his death. Fantastic update.

Now comes the long part...the regaining his sanity part. If he'd been longer with the soul, adjusted...or just Spike, he could have gotten out of this with more confidence, but...it was already so much to deal with.

They're going to have to convince him that he's in reality first, or nothing else they try will matter. His body will need time to heal, too...perhaps they won't be able to get through to him until it's closer to normal.

Author's Response: Yep this is the hard part. There's only so much a vamp can take, even one as strong as Spike.
