usually, the fics after chosen have an happy ending, or a sad one... as in, he came back, or not. here it seems to me that he hasn't and, in a way, she decided to move on 'cos even is life is harsh, one couldn't stay at disneyland forever... in a romantic (and twisted... lol) kind of way, that's one of the saddest ending i ever read!

Author's Response: Actually, the Immortal is Buffy's "Disneyland," her vacation from the harshness of Slayer life and an escape from the painful memories of her losses; she's enjoying herself but is also coming to realize that perfection isn't all it's cracked up to be and that she'd prefer a real relationship with all its frustrations and passion rather than what's easy and simple all the time.
