Seems like Angel('s demon) wants revenge for Spike too. Xander was really surprised, that would make Riley the main suspect. If Xander wasn't lying. ~ Yup, it was Angel's sire's voice, commanding him against his wishes. ~ And it seems both Buffy and Angel wants Spike as his/hers.

I'm all for Angel sticking around to help simply because I think he can be useful in a number of ways. First, if he allows Spike to feed from him that may speed up the healing process, and he can watch Xander and RIley while Buffy is busy caring for Spike, or give Buffy a break since Spike was comforted by him and she can do some investigating of her own (Dawn has to go back to school at some time). Also, I'd love to see him set his Angelus loose on the guilty party since I'm pretty sure he didn't hurt Spike.

I like Angel, I just prefer Spike as Buffy's significant other.

Very very intense. I'm convinced Angel didn't harm Spike, but his possesiveness is a bit creepy. Although I'm all for him getting on the vengence band wagon.

Xander and Riley both suggested that Spike should be put out of his misery, and that Buffy shouldn't spend her time caring for him. Xander acted the friend, and kept his mouth shut. Riley seemed disgusted that Buffy would help Spike. We know from the past that Xander will lie to get the result he wants. We know that Riley sees nothing wrong with hurting Spike, and that he is a trained covert operator, which means he was trained to lie convincingly. Xander alway got a sadistic glee out of tormenting Spike when he knew that Spike couldn't harm him after getting the chip. Riley proved he was sadistic when he staked Spike with a plastic stake just to terrorize him. Both of them have knowledge of firearms and how to use them. ???

Damn it, I still don't know which one of them is the one that hurt Spike. Great chapter, but the suspence is dragging me down. (Why not send Angel down into the cave where Spike was tortured, after a few seconds he should be able to tell by scent who was in the cave with Spike.)

wow. okay...angel kinda freaked me out at the end with the whole 'nobody hurts my boy but me" thought. really hope he doesn't turn into the baddy in this. great job. loved it bunches. oh! and xander and riley are both asses!! just thought i'd point that out. okay i'm done.
