And I fear that is were the Spike/Dru part will take place. Yeah... unavoidable. ~ I'm glad that William still remembers. His past life and Buffy. Yet that will it make harder for him to accept what he is now. I wonder if he still has the ring.

Author's Response: Yes. Although the dynamic of their relationship has changed from the canon of the show, Dru and Spike will be together. I hope it's not too hard for you to read. I know some readers are getting a bit squicked out by it. :P Thanks for reviewing!

wow, that banner is quite...graphic shall I say.

So, what can i say, two new chapters yay!! The writing in this chap is amazing as usual, the way you've described his first foray into vampirism is just...you can picture it so well, you can almost feel it yourself. amazing.

on to the next chappie

Author's Response: lol. Hmm, and here I thought my banner was sexy. :P I'm glad you liked the chapter. I've been so afraid of chasing some readers off with the shift in tone, but I can't do anything about it. This is the way the story has to go. I'm glad you're still enjoying it. Thanks for the review. :)

I have been avidly reading this story since the very beginning, and I must say that this is probably one of the best works of fanfiction that I have read. The development of the plot is seamless, unlike most of its counterparts which lack a lot to be be desired. This story just seems to pull you in until you're addicted and begging for more. :) You have a gift, and I'm glad to see that you're not putting it to waste. :) I can't wait until you post the next chapter. I'm curious to see what Buffy's reaction is to being back home.

Bravo, once again :)

Author's Response: I'm glad you like it. Thanks for taking the time to tell me so. :)

Wow... This was an amazing chapter. The way you described everything was just... delicious. Loved it so much, so fantastic-- and I'm really looking forward to seeing how William's beginning years as a vampire (before he manages to stumble upon Buffy again, as he undoubtedly will :D) play out-- again, this chapter was just amazing. :) Loved it so much!

Author's Response: I'm so glad to hear you say that, Devin. Thank you. :)

Wonderful twist to your narrative. Your writing is absolutely gorgeous. Painful, at times, but I read to feel and no one makes me feel as much as you do! I've been wanting to ask you about another story, though: you wrote another fic called, I think, Falling, set in Season 3. The premise was that Willow's aborted love spell (meant for Dru) somehow reacted onto Buffy. I can't find that story anywhere now, and I remember when I read it that you hadn't updated it for more than a year. Have you abandoned it utterly, or might it make an appearance again? Thank you for your beautiful work, Alia

Author's Response: "Falling" is, unfortunately, on indefinite hiatus. I was struggling, trying to keep the two fics going at the same time, so I'm afraid I sacrificed "Falling" in order to work on FtTP. After I finish this story, I'm going to go back, revise and finish "Falling." I'm so glad you like both stories. Thank you. :)

To imagine what their affair should bring when he comes into it so lovesick from another. How it changes the dynamic, I can only wonder about the end result... Feeling wrongness only for when he betrays the memory of Elizabeth, such a powerful dynamic. I love it. Please update soon.

Poor newbie turned vamp Spike in wanting to go home only there really is no place that is home like the one you want to return to and even turning his Mom wont go the way he wants it to go either. I wonder what it will be like for him to meet the gang and how he will find himself along the way and get back to Buffy. I just love this new chapter in the Willam saga your doing here it's really fan-freakin-tas-tic Joss should give you a call!!!!!!!!

I may be in the opposite side here in saying this but Drusilla may very well be exactly who William needed at that point in time. Now before anyone throws rocks lemme explain in her own way Dru loved Spike and they had a real relationship. It was not perfect but after the total anguish Elizabeth put him through with her disappearance he needs someone like Dru to help him start over sure she is crazy and all but she is also hid savior. I've always liked Dru cause she too was a simple girl with visions taken from her life and turned and then tortured by Angelus I always thought her and Spike were suited in their similarities. Hope you post more soon this is a very powerful story.

Talk about a panic waking up dead next to a dead dude you think Dru woulda... Well it is Dru come to think of it, it is exactly what she would do, Sort of like the doctor who made Frankenstein only interested in the result with no thought of the making of the monster. I thought it was great how you had William confusing Dru with his gone Elizabeth days and her touches and caresses and him just longing for her but then finding only Dru instead. A probably Dru is using her thrall a little into pulling William forward to do her will so his new side and vampire feelings or habits I guess I mean to say come forward. Even when he realizes he's dead and a vampire he's not really shocked but he does feel anger probably at her for now forever prolonging his emptiness and loneliness in a life/afterlife without her. Most likely William would have preferred a suicide to a eternity without his lady love. And now he's kinda stuck and unsure of what do do other then to follow her lead. I saw the need of having the blood lust scene with him and Dru makes total sense in the vampire bonding and so forth even on some level he knows she's using him he just no longer cares with the guilt he feels over thinking he was the cause of his loves death and probably on some level thinks this is what he deserves for not protecting Elizabeth. I think this is fantastic in your showing of the making of the monster in what used to be a caring loving man. I do feel badly for Anne she must be beside herself first with Elizabeth thought to be dead and now too her William. Like a great novel I look forward to turning the page on this and see what your next page will be. I read your post at the top of the page and people should keep in mind this is a Spike story first and Buffy second. But I think this is sort of the best part because for the loneliest time we had only Buffy's perspective and now we get to see all of William the good and the bad and how he struggles to become a master vampire and finds the will to move on after Buffy and survive.
Triumphant part 2!

Author's Response: I know this chapter was a little graphic, but I don't think it could have been any less so, given the subject matter. I'm glad you weren't put off by the scene between William and Dru at the end of the chapter. I was afraid people would be up in arms over it, but almost everyone who has reviewed understood the necessity of it, which is great. As always, I want to thank you for your wonderful review. I hope you continue to enjoy the story! :)

From the very beginning of his unlife Spike is unique. Instead of the typical mindless, ferociously hungry, homicidal fledgling, we have a confused and still grieving William. Then enter Dru, and I for one think that is a good thing. He never would have survived without her, I doubt he would have lasted 24 hours.

I adored your take on William and frankly I was heartbroken after his death in the last chaper. The poor guy never was able to find the comfort and ease that comes with loving and being loved. He never was never able to relax and bask in it. That just kills me. So I'm glad this update didn't come quickly. As silly as it sounds I needed the time to mourn him. I'm ready now to see Spike's evolution. But I will always love your William. Thanks for such a skillfully written story and take all the time you need to write it. It's worth waiting for.-Martine

Author's Response: Martine, I don't think that sounds silly at all. As a matter of fact, the reason this update took so long was because I developed writer's block to it. Not because I didn't know where the chapter was going--I had it all mapped out in my head. But I think that I, too, had to take a little time to mourn William. Thanks for the review. :)

how long will part 2 last? i'm just hoping it won't be over 20 chapters like the first part. i'm too impatient for my spuffy. i will continue this story because it's really good, but it will be hard for me to read about him with drusilla. i just hope you wouldn't make it completely like the show, which has spike turning his mother. i also hope he wouldn't really fall for drusilla, we know how much he loved her in the show, but i hope he'll never stop loving buffy. i like one idea that i read from someone's comment about spike eventually leaving drusilla and being on his own, hopefully not joining up with darla and angelus because he's bound to turn him into a monster. i have a feeling he'll completely forget about buffy then. i'm anxiously awaiting more.

Author's Response: Part Two will, in fact, be the same length as Part One (give or take a few chapters, of course). I know you're excited to see the reunion with Buffy, and I know how hard it is to take, seeing William/Spike with Drusilla. But I promise, there is a very good reason I am including all of this in the story. I'm glad you're enjoying the fic. Thanks for reviewing. :)

Even in his confused state he has the need to get back home and to his Mother and fears her worring about him so see we still have a speckle of William in there and I think thats always the most endearing thing about him. This is really really good I kinda want to see how Anne has been processing this all with William being missing for three days and Elizabeth too thought to be dead I think Anne would have had a attack from so much stress and stuff. I have always liked Anne shes just a woman of her time really who married and had a family and tried to have a happy home. I always felt like she didn't deserve her fate in life. Ok I'm talking too much and need to get back to work but this is so juicy its hard not to be thinking about it all day.

Author's Response: That is the best compliment a writer could receive, Saunders...to know that the story remains with the reader throughout the day. Thank you. :)

With the TV series I loved Spike first and then when you learn of his past you love William too and in this story it's the reverse you loved William first and now we have to learn to love Spike. I'm really dying to see how you make me fall in love with your version of the Spike character. So far your off to a great start here in showing the monster now in the man my hat is off to you in how hard it is to write him up a past and show all the inner turmoil he faces. You've taken on a huge undertaking but I think your talents with the pen will see you flying thru this. I for one am blown away with every new chapter and turn you take into making of Spike and his history that all leads him up to a full circle someday with Buffy.

Author's Response: Thank you for the wonderful feedback, SpikesDeb. It means a lot to me to hear that you are enjoying the story that much.

Dru's excitment over his rising is like a kid in a toy store picking out a new dollie creepy and yet childlike at the same time. If you think about it and being turned can you imagine Dru being your sire? It's like trying to figure out how to play the game and your teacher only speaks in latin. And you just know Angel is going to make his new life hell cause he probably will get attached to Dru cause she's the only thing he has so knowing the nature of Angel an Dru's relationship it's just going to be another punch for William to bare. But can I just say I want William to kill off all the people who were bad to him and his Elizabeth. I know I know its wrong ad bad and evil but those two guys who jumped William at the train station are so on the list!

Heehee* As usual I read this story and I just want to shake Spuffy Realm and make more of it appear so I can read it all day. Great job.

Author's Response: That is the perfect analogy for what William is going through with Dru as his sire. I'm glad you liked the chapter, Forbidden Loves. Thanks for reviewing. :)

This section was my favorite part :

(((But the woman shook her head. “You shall live forever.”
Forever. Then, there would be no merciful death, no peace from the burning in his heart. William felt a flash of anger at the girl; this was not what he had thought she was offering him when she approached him in that dark alley.)))

Cause it really showed he wanted his own death over losing Elizabeth. Even with the sex with Dru seems right on because he's so messed up right now from his past life and this new-ness of being turned his confusion in this chapter was perfect. If this is the secondsecond of the story I look forward to what is to come. It is so very good.

I love the inner struggle William has in fighting off his humanity and the monster and trying to do both things at once with filling his demon needs and not knowing what he is feeling from those and his human emotions an knowing right from wrong. Time hole spell portals take time and Buffy can wait a little bit. lol!
William now on the other hand is falling apart and finding his way and I have to say I love it cause you stll have a part of him that is human in his reactions and it still shows he has heart and emotions that he will retain in his becoming of Spike. If this is part II I am loving it!!!

Author's Response: I'm so glad to hear it, Blue Bell Knoll. Not that I don't love Buffy (and Spuffy), but I really wanted to explore William/Spike on his own for a little while. You've given us a detailed narrative of William's first few hours as a vampire and in the company of his sire, Drusilla: it shows us the need for blood, the excitement for violence; the disaffecting but very necessary, sex. It confronts William's fledgling dark heart: able to do all these terrible things but still yearning for his light, his Elizabeth.

William's life was, pre-Elizabeth, a seeming tragedy in the making. Post-Elizabeth, the tragedy is most definitely, complete.

Fantastic episode.

I am digging this part two of the story your telling here.
