Ok, I can not for the life of me figure out where you are going here. What's going to be different, what the same.

I honestly thought Spike was going to not remember her at all at this point. Flummoxed, that's the word.

Nothing to do but read on.

For me a story is about the journey, not the end. And i would have been very dissappointed if you had skipped this entire section, while it is so important to the story!
Aside for really longing to see how it would change the future, which i did as well, i really dont understand yu got any bad reactions. Yes i longed to know too, but at the same time the longer road makes it all the sweeter.
And rhyming past william with future spike would not make that much sense to me, without this backstory. So thanks for sticking to it!
And i happily continue reading now :)

Just for the record ... LOVED Part II - stayed up far later than planned devouring chapter after chapter - wonderful vivid, descriptive writing and adore the characterisation. Thank you so much for this x

I just wanted to let you know how much I LOVED Part II. I thought the characterisation of Spike was actually some of the best writing in this fic to date. I was also in awe as to how you managed to make the emotions that he was going through seem so believable. The detail was just incredible too... and i really enjoyed how the characters interracted with each other throughout.
I honestly dont have one bad word to say about that part. I feel quite upset for you that it wasnt recieved as well as part one or part three were... I think you really deserve to be applauded for you skill as a writer.

Author's Response: It's great to know you enjoyed Part II so well! I got a lot of enjoyment out of exploring William's transformation into Spike, so it's wonderful to know that you enjoyed reading it. Thank you for telling me. :-D

I have to admit I was disappointed to see that you've received negative reactions for Part II. True, it didn't have the "Spuffy" scenes that reacers (myself included) admittedly crave, but the entire section was necessary to see the seamless transition that William went through in order to become Spike. Brilliant plot development, I love it!

Author's Response: Why thank you for saying that! I enjoyed exploring William's transformation into Spike ... it was a wonderful chance to really get to know the character and understand his motivations. I'm glad to know you enjoyed reading it. :)

I am sorry you did not get the response you were looking for in part II. I myself enjoyed it, eventhough I don't review each chapter. I think you did a great job with Spike and Dru's relationship and adventures. I don's usually read other than Spuffy but I could have read an entire story on Spike in that error. You did really well and I enjoyed every chapter in part II.

Author's Response: How sweet of you to say. Thank you! It's great that you enjoyed reading Part II. Thank you for letting me know. :-D

Well, I think Part II was both enjoyable, and necessary. We can't see how Spike got to the place he was in now if we don't see how he did it. Does that make sense? Anyhow, yes, I was anxious to see them together again, and I hated seeing Spike with Dru, but again, necessary evils and thoroughly enjoyable storytelling. Thank you.

Author's Response: That makes perfect sense, and that was exactly what I was trying to achieve with Part II. Thank you. :-)

I think part II was beautiful. I tend to review when something is finished, I know, feed the muse! However, I tend not to read unfinished stories (I've been hurt, there are still a few out there where I reviewed my heart out and they're not finished, nor likely ever to be finished ) however, this is so well written, I can't help myself! I've loved this story so far and cannot wait for book III. I love the Spike backstory you came up with, I can't wait to find out how else you tell this story!

Yeah sorry but I don't like Spike being with others when he was together with Buffy before. Therefore I just didn't like Part II so much. But I've read it :) It was good written but I just couldn't enjoy it as much as Part one. Don't change your storyline for some complains. Looking forward how Buffy got changed because of her journey to the past. ~
All these years apart (from his former love or his former self) have taken its toll then. He has really changed.
Thought so... Spike didn't recognize Buffy (would have been too easy, huh?). The years made his memories fond, he forgot what she really looked like.
Oh.. at the end of the chapter. Good I missed one and can continue.

Author's Response: Thanks for hanging on through the parts you didn't enjoy. I always appreciate reading your thoughts on the chapters. :-)

I love the story, but, come on! There is no way he wouldn't recognize her. For god's sake, her real name *is* Elizabeth Summers, not Buffy.

Please make Spike smarter. He has to figure this stuff out before she would do her time travel thingy.

P.S. Loved the chapter.

Rouge.

Author's Response: Interesting that you should say that ... but I don't recall a single time where she is called anything other than "Buffy." I certainly don't recall her being referred to as "Elizabeth," even on her headstone. At any rate, I don't feel that Spike is unintelligent in his reaction to her. He thinks she is dead, and after a hundred years of having an idealized vision of her in his head, seeing her (and a considerably younger version of her) wouldn't be enough to convince him that she was still alive. He never suspected that she was anything but what she said, and he was certain that she was dead, so why would he question it? I appreciate your suggestions, but I will handle the story as I see fit. I hope you continue to enjoy it, and if not, I'm very sorry. Thanks for the review. :)

SO I just spent the past two days reading this and I've got to say that it is probably one of the best fan fincs I've ever read! I couldn't stop reading! I love the sexual tension between William and Buffy in Victorian London...and although it was a little hard to read part 2 with no spuffy...it was interesting to think about what William did in the time before Sunnydale. Plus, as a reader you know that'll they'll meet again one day and the anticipation of their reunion just made it sweeter...

Great job and please update soon.

Author's Response: Thank you so much. I know that some sections of Part II were violent and hard to read (I know that I had a hard time writing the Angelus/William scene in chapter 32) but everything really was necessary and all of that will tie into the plot later on. Thanks so much for sticking by the story through the hard parts. I hope you enjoy Part III. :)

Well this knocked my socks off but every update of yours seems to have that effect on me.
Can't really say I'm sad to see Darla go she's always annoying to me in a fic but you even made me laugh with Spike poking fun at her in the last part. I don't know what part 3 will hold but I'm looking for your updates every chance I get now.
Great job as always yout talent as a writer never fails to suck me in.

Author's Response: lol. Yeah, Darla is such an arse, isn't she? It's great to know that you enjoyed Part II and that you're looking foward to Part III. Thanks for reading and reviewing. :)

You have brought us up to date in a completely adept way; by now, we are so familiar with the making of Spike - his beginning, his early years as a vampire and his relatiionships over all these years. The layers of blood that coat him, feed him, sustain his raison d'etre and, critically, you showed us the very point where his lovelorn memories of Elizabeth were smothered and buried deep, in order for the vampire that becomes the slayer of Slayers to go from strength to strength. That is to say, leave her behind, so that the demon may reign complete within the frame of Spike. William? Now, just a name.

So when he sees her likeness at the Bronze, he is momentarily jarred, but he is still able to compare the differences between the fancy of his human days and the beauty of a bolder, harsher world. And as such this is how he sees her. His defences don't weaken; rather, her forcing his past 'weakness' into the forefront of his mind angers him. There is no mercy for her, here.

The upcoming interraction is going to be so ........ devastating and delicious.

An amazing Book, which you have lavished with both detail and purpose. We had to see what made William into Spike beyond the obvious vampiric details. And you did just that.

Well done.

Author's Response: Is it any wonder that I love your reviews? You always understand what I'm trying to convey in my chapters, and you critque them in such a beautiful way. I'm really happy that you are continuing to enjoy the story, and I hope that I can live up to your expectations in the future. Thank you. :)

I'm trying to think back if Willim ever called Elizabeth Buffy or if she mentioned a nickname in the past but I dno"t think she did. This girl being alive and looking so much like the woman of his past will mess with him greatly and it has me thinking if Drusilla will know who Buffy is before either of them do.
I love this fic it seems to have everything and the kitchen sink to it. Love to read more of it :)

Author's Response: You're right - she never did call herself Buffy in front of him, or hint that she had a name other than "Elizabeth." I'm glad you're enjoying the story and looking forward to Part III. Thanks for reviewing. :-)

I am excited to see the start of part III, but I throughly enjoyed part II. It was quite interesting to see how he develpied despite this love he felt for a girl who would know more about him than he knew about him self and how that affected the development of his vampire. I do wonder, what will be her reaction to him. So very excited for more.
