“A sacrifice,” she answered, adding quickly: “But not anything dangerous.”

“But dark magic.”

Oh, that doesn't bode well.

Giles rubbed a hand across his forehead. “With magic, there are always consequences.”

Great minds think alike ;)

Poor Spike; my heart goes out to him.

They're calling Angel?! eh. If Angel acts prissy...hm, that would be funny, but it will drag things out. God, they shouldn't call Angel. Unless it will be funny. eh.

As always, you've not disappointed. I was shocked by Spike's reaction, and then as I thought about it, I came to the conclusion of "DUH! of course he'd feel that way!" lol..I can't wait for the next chapter, though I must admit that I was slightly disappointed to see a "let's call Angel" line. While I like Angel, I've never understood why whenever something goes wrong, everyone's reaction is to call him. haha.

However, as I said, I like Angel, so I'm sure I'll enjoy seeing him in the coming chapters.

Author's Response: Thanks for taking the time to review. I'm glad you liked the chapter. :-)

I don't think I have ever a part where Spike was so destroyed by love before it is brilliant what you have done here. I almost expected him to throw up he was so distraught. As much as I have wanted them to come back together as you read it you yourself feel their heartbreaking pain just like as if you were there. When he dropped to the floor thinking about what he has done now knowing it was his Elizabeth and his thought of did I know her at all?I needed a tissue at that point.

I know people hate pressure but more please more please more

Just when I think this cant get much better you go ahead and top yourself. Your Spike has gotten thru some really horrible things but what got to me the most was just the idea of Elizabeths love for him not being real and just him thinking Buffy used him as a lark was the breaking point for him and made him cry. He could make it through becoming a killer. losing Anne, being abused by Angelus, and losing Elizabeth once he thought from death. But thinking it was all a big joke on him as a way of getting even was the worst thing to have happen to him. It reminded me so much of when Buffy came back to life and he was pacing in his crypt or when he was souled and was sitting in the basement with the first playing with him. You sort of combo'd the two scenes to me and it was really heartbreaking but in a good way to read. I really hope your muses stick with this for I love reading all your new stuff.

Dawn! Now would be a good time to say "No! Don't call Angel" seeing as she just saw that mark on Buffy's collarbone Dawn's the only one who could save her sister some trouble and not have him added to the mix. Dawn is the only person who knows more of whats going on with Buffy. Dawn just say no be the voice of teen reason :D
Now will Buffy and Spike avoid each other or seek the other one out for some answers? What a hurricane of pain both seem to be in.

This just gets more and more complex and mutli-layered in its characters. Spikes reaction although extremely tragic in his thinking of Buffy just playing with him to get even was the perfect way to go given Spikes history and low self esteem as William never thinking Elizabeth could love him or would. But you know if he thinks about it she did go into their relationship knowing exactly who he was from the first moment she met him she knew who he was. She knew who what he would become, she knew he was one of her worst enemies, she knew of their endless fighting and yet...She still allowed him to grow close to her and a girl can fake many a thing but you just do not let your worst of enemies get that close to you or do you extend yourself out to them in the way she did. He has to know on some level she was really there with him in that moment and loved him. Buffy could not be that cruel and some part of him knows that. That little added touch of Willow mentioning Angel I am sure will have every reader is in a uproar ~*>laugh

Author's Response: lol. Yeah, Angel is getting quite a bit of reader attention before he even shows up in his first scene. Thanks for the review. ;-)

It was agonizing.
It was enraging.
He wanted to kill himself.

This is exactly what I was hoping you'd go for in his reaction to putting this all together. True grit in going there with Spike you nailed it on the head completely.
Best Spike moment I have ever read.

I do not think anyone could imagine where Spikes thoughts are right now. And if they did they would freak out to.

Fantastic telling of this story it goes beyond my ideas as the reader on where it will go I just love finding it on the Updated part I am a huge fan.

I felt so bad for Buffy when she was climbing the stairs to her room an her old life. For as badly as she did want to get back at one time she had grown to love her life with William and had grown content there in just being able to feel like a normal girl falling in love.
I laughed over them all discussing where Buffy had bin the part of piggy backing Glory to a hell dimension for yes when I think of corsets and elaborate dresses a hell dimension comes to mind maybe it is just me but I really found that amusing. I am worried though in Willow doing the spell and making "living things" and "where to send them" I am getting the vibe with this spell it not only moved Buffy it moved Glory too in the plural sense. Maybe it could luck out and Glory could turn up by Angel and he won't be able to come to town. Things can go many different ways its exciting just to think about on this fic.

Author's Response: In a way, I think that the Scoobies (both in my fic and on the show) wanted to believe that Buffy was in a hell dimension. Not because they wanted her to suffer, but because it would make their bringing her back that much more heroic. In "Afterlife" Willow even prompts Buffy that she should be happy because "We really did it. We got you back." They've got good intentions, but sometimes their motives can be a little skewed. Thanks for the review! :)

( The place where, on their last night together, he had gently gnawed at her…kissed her…whispered into her flesh that she was beautiful. When he had seen the mark it left afterward, he had been upset. He was afraid he had hurt her, and it took a lot of reassurance to convince him otherwise. The thought of it made her ache inside.) and then (You could never hurt me, William. I trust you never to hurt me.) His anguish in realizing what he has done.

A very touching sad part but my favorites of this chapter. Love this story!

consequences with magic are never good. i wonder what it will be...be a demon that wants to kill Buffy like in Afterlife or something worse?

Grrr on Xander...not my favorite guy at the moment. He loves to keep going back to the Spike issue and disinvite him into the house. Little does he know that Spike probably doesn't want to be around Buffy for a while away. I bet Spike can't even look at her.

Buffy better not wash her neck either. I have a feeling she wants to treasure Williams mark.

And lastly, Angel? Oh god...why do i feel that is not going to just make matters worse--for Buffy and Spike. Darn Willow she always does the wrong things at the wrong times. If the Scoobies never did that spell Elizabeth would have been with William forever.

Author's Response: Willow and Xander have the best of intentions, of course; but you know what they say the road to hell is paved with ... As for Angel, well, we'll just have to see where that goes. Thanks for the review! :)

My review is kinda choppy as my thoughts on this float from one thing to another.

Firstly readjust?
Good luck with that one guys lol I do not think your Buffy is going to be her old Buffy self for a long long while. I'd think she'd be more adapt to hang on to a few of her new Victorian ways and mannerisms. I myself would love to see her maintain a few of her new lady like quirks from the past. Invite Spike in for some tea and just shock the whole household lol. Spike is going to have no idea on how to be around her now.
He cannot be big bad and he can't be William. This is worse then Mr. Darcy coming across Miss Elizabeth at Pemberly if Pemberly had demons and a hellmouth lol. What in the world can these two say to each other now? I mean could you see it? Buffy is still much like her Elizabeth self right now and I can't see her snapping out of that and pulling on a halter top and leather pants without feeling a bit scandalized by what she would be wearing. And she is no longer in Slayer form to just bounce right back out and slay she's got to be a bit rusty and she has filled out a little and has become a little bit softer. The last thought she had was marrying William and now she is just suppose to be the Slayer again and go back out to kill things.

Spike is feeling very cuckolded by Buffy and in the worst possible way he thinks she used him for her own amusement. But I hope given time as he remembers things he will remember the little things in their first meetings and the slip ups she made and how she slowly grew close to him and that you cannot make up. To really remember things of the past now knowing who she really was will shed some light on who she was then or even the fact she would love him as who he was.
Then too there is Spike realizing he has been hell bent on hurting the very same woman in the past he had longed for and loved and wanted to keep safe how do you come to terms with that and not feel unworthy? Buffy being Elizabeth cuts Spike to the quick I mean think about it she knows him like no one else on the entire earth knows him. Imagine being a master vampire and anyone having that kinda power over you.

Ok now Dawny send these folks home and let your sis have some peace and a few hours sleep. For when she does run into Spike again and he comes face to face with her it is going to me very tense to say the least.

This is much like getting to the best part of the movie and having to pause it and your hanging in anticipation. How I am going to go back to reading my Charles Dickens book now and be able to concentrate on it when this is so much better I do not know.

Wonderful as always

Oh* I reread you new additions to 12 and 13 and well all of them really and it does really add to what they both already had going. I really loved him saying she brought life into his house and into him for that matter.

Author's Response: Yeah, it will take her a lot longer than a few days to recover from all that she's been through. Then again, Spike has some healing of his own to do ... and not just his hands. Thanks for letting me know you liked the revisions and for the review of this chapter. :-)

Yay! Dawn to stand up for yourself and delare it your house too!

Will Buffy still love the William in Spike or does she see him as her enemy still and just the monster who had always been trying to kill her?

Or will she ever be able to look at him and not feel the pain of him not being her loving William?

Can she see past it all?

Will Anya ever think before she speaks?

Tune in tomorrow!

The anger drained out of him at the memories, and he slowly sank to the floor.

All I have wanted—all I want—

Is what—?

Only to be worthy of you.

A burst of hysterical laughter escaped his lips at the irony of that. The stupidity of him, to think he could be worthy of her, to think that she had loved him. To think that she could love him.
To think that he knew her at all.
He dropped his head into his broken hands and began to sob.

This broke my heart in all the right places and I have never seen Spike written this well before you have captured him to a T!

Xander you just have to love him cause even when you think he should bugger off he is just being a good friend and trying to protect a girl he cares about from a known killer and people reading always forget that he is a good guy. A lot of pain in this page but I liked reading it it made me want to give everyone a hug and tea. It was great to see you brought Giles back he is always my favorite voice of reason. Thank you for so many new pages in this I love reading them.

Author's Response: Exactly! Xander may come off as a self-righteous horse's ass until you look at his motivations. He loves Buffy, and, as far as he knows, she does *not* like Spike. The last contact Spike had with Buffy, before she was sent back in time, was when he tied her up and threatened to let Dru kill her if she didn't tell him she loved him ... so ... yeah, Xander has some valid points when it comes to keeping Spike from the house. We, of course, know a lot of things Xander doesn't. But in his mind, he's only protecting his friend. Thanks for the review. :-)

I so want to slap all of them. They are such morons. You'd think that someone would have a brain but no. I love your writing it has gotten me quite angry at the characters and that is the mark of a good author and story. I can't wait to see where Spike especially goes from here. And why Angel, that will be interesting. Can't wait for more.

Author's Response: Yep, emotion from the readers is always a compliment to the author. And I don't blame you for wanting to slap the Scoobies ... I wanted to slap them almost constantly during season six. It's just a normal reaction to them, I think. lol. Thanks for the review! :)

This was so well written in both Spikes emotional and lashing out reaction and then falling down and sobbing of all he has lived through with knowing Elizabeth and then to Buffy. I'm hoping given time Spike will see he did his own part in bringing Buffy into his own life with his first seeing her and for some unknown reason knowing he had to help her. William went out of his way to save Elizabeth and make her a part of his close knit family. He wanted to shelter and care for her. Even if he did not know who or what she was or who he would become he as a man wanted her.
And then we go into Buffy and her just being sort of emotionally frozen from the loss of the life she had and happiness she had with William. I mean if you think about it her life with William was the first real shot at happiness she had. She didn't mean to love him an she knew who he would become but she loved him despite this. She didn't know if she had days or years or just moments and she feel in love with him just as he fell for her.
Ok I have to get back to my breakfast now for I'm discussing them like they are real people in my own Spuffy-opera. Perfectly perfect this chapter was in every part.
