The attention to detail in this story makes each scene vivid and this chapter was no exception. Buffy rehashing her money trouble while sitting on the back porch was poignant, and this line really resonated with me: "This was her life now and there was no point in fighting it." Buffy's weary resignation is hard to read, but it's beautifully conveyed.

Spike crawling the walls, waiting was also vivid. His mounting agitation had me on pins and needles, and when Buffy finally appeared I breathed a sigh of relief. That didn't last long, though. Buffy's struggle to accept Spike, demon and all, is going to take time to work through. Spike's impatience isn't moving it along. He can demand she trust him all he likes, but only time will bring her around.

All Spike can do is offer support and prove himself over time. I know patience isn't his strong suit, but it's what Buffy needs.


Author's Response: While I was writing the scene where Spike waits for Buffy, I was actually feeling his tension and his impatience. It's great to know that it managed to translate into the writing as well. Spike is such a feeling character -- it's great to be able to have my readers feel right along with him. Little weirdness with the blood but they seemed to work it out. I had to giggle at Spike having club soda on hand and the injustice comment. And I love how Dawn keeps nudging at Spike towards Buffy it is cute to see her trying to matchmaker them together. Willow I almost feel bad for cause there is gonna be some kinda falling out there or reality check coming her way and Giles I think is spying on Buffy or something with the cold shoulder hes giving her. Once more you surprise me in where this is going and I am enjoying the ride.

A perfect moment was seeing Spike go William like to fall apart at the thought of causing Elizabeth-Buffy pain Spike has the same reaction to seeing Buffy in tears he cant stand it and has to go to her and make it better. I love reading this cause every time there is a update there is always one part of it that touches your heart as a follower.

Friends are not..... i would think she would worry more about her sister instead of feeding freeloaders who decided BUFFY should find work instead of them.

That's one thing i hated in the series. They left Buffy with all the bills and just left her to work at the Double Meat Palace. At least Giles pulled through in the end, kinda. Although i'm not even sure about that anymore. I've read so many fanfics that i get mixed up.

Spike is like the voice of reason here so I am hoping he does not blow it and offer to go rob a museum or something this ends in such a way you just dont know what he's gonna do or say and I'm hanging on till you add more here.

Growing up is so hard and harsh I am glad you gave Buffy Spike aka William to get her thru this people never seem to write Buffy as needing anyone or a strong shoulder to lean on I am giddy you had her turn to Spike for trusting comfort I could just kiss you!

What is Giles up to I keep asking myself I get the vibe something is going on there with him and his silence I'm not sure if he's waiting for Buffy to stand up for herself or if he is plotting some move againest Spike. Either or this fic keeps me guessing all the time and never leaves my thoughts for too long of a time.

This is sure to be a classic fan-fic everyone should learn to write from as a standard.

Spike seems to be trying to give Buffy some space even when his instincts say otherwise he is respecting asking him not to expose their relationship to her friends until a later time but its costing him some. It is sweet of Dawn knowing Buffy is being pushed by her friends that she would run to Spike for him to check on Buffy. Dawn being the one person who does know and believes in Spike that he does care for her sister. I do feel bad for Spike because he keeps drowning his feelings in a bottle when Buffy is late.
