As usual, Spike only sees the error of his ways when he's down and out and being used the same way he has used in the past. I like that Buffy is being compassionate here and I'm the first to say a big hooray whenever Riley gets hurt (physically, mentally or any other way possible), but.... Buffy should really call off any romance that may be blooming between her and Riley BEFORE she gives into Spike --- AND if I were Buffy, I'd wait until he's healed a bit - rebound is a bitch. Love the tale. More please.

Good chapter dealing with the aftermath of Spike's realization that feelings are something fragile and he has experienced what he's done to Buffy and others first hand. Even though Spuffy is always thrilling, this story merits that the person Spike started out as to have to earn his way back into Buffy's heart. To let lust overwhelm their senses at this moment would only complicate their already complicated relationship. Buffy certainly doesn't want to be the "re-bound" girl to Spike to get over his wounded emotions because that would leave her totally exposed to pain that she has made the decision on her own to put herself in. Spike's declaration of "beauty" do not atone for his past behavior and words are not a salve to an open wound that he has inflicted. Buffy deserves better than to be the "feel-good" girl after a tragic circumstance. Riley may not be the perfect match for Buffy but at least he was willing to go slow to find out if they can be more than just friends and lovers. Spike has yet to show any restraints when it comes to seduction whether by physical attraction or emotional attraction and it would be too easy to allow him to believe he can condone his past behavior by resorting to sexual advances to glaze over the fact that Buffy is way too convenient living in the same household for his use. Anyways, it is good that Spike knows the pain he inflicted to others so callously and maybe after monumental effort to prove that he is not all about sexual conquest, he can redeem himself to not only Buffy but the other girls he has toyed with. Thanks for the update, loved reading it immensely!

I think it's too early for Buffy to truly trust Spike. Can't wait to read more!

although i disagree with buffy giving in so easily, i get it. hell, i've been weak at times with the gu that treated me like crap. i understand. great job sweets. wonder how buffy's gonna feel when she realizes that she just cheated on riley??? oh hell, i wouldn't care!!! lol. more soon.

Great chapter, I really like this story. Ignore the small minded people who didn't learn not to say anything if they have nothing nice to say.

Oh be strong Buffy....but then it's hard when you love someone........and if his eyes have been truly opened and ........hell if it's love its love and you can't fight it ....especially when you're young and inexperienced to the ways of passion......it makes even older people act like fools........

I'm not so sure she should forgive him so easily... I mean, ok, maybe he is seeing the light, but he hasn't really DONE anything about it. You know, to prove himself to her. In private, he'd tell her pretty things, but then shun her in public. Right now, he may really mean those pretty things, but they are still in private. I hope I'm making sense... anyway. I still love the story, no worries. ;)

I just realized that my review sounded kind of one-sided or chauvenistic, however what I mean is this:

Giles is probably gone alot, etc. But Joyce works at the house and I don't understand that she's not seeing some of this?
