i understand that S has been a moron because he didn't want to fall in love, but i don't understand the scene at Oz's. Spike asked what to do as if he never really courted a woman. that you have to talk to her and gain her trust first is such a back thing that S really should know it, since he's been married twice. it really made me wonder how th hell did he woo those women? just had sex with them? weird.

woo-hoo! tell her charlie!!!!! i wish Buffy would get off the bitch-go-round and give him a chance. she's really getting on my freakin' nerves! give him a chance with ur "FAT" ass!! god i hope it gets better this next chapter.

This was an excellent chapter. Such a range of emotions, and you did them all perfectly. The last scene was great. From Spike's chant to Buffy's "I said no" I loved it. But his “Because you’re the only one who can save me.” just about stopped my heart and made me cry at the same time. Kudos. ; ) More please.

Wow! That was a great chapter. I loved the "what's eating her line" LMAO on that one. And the "In the army we don't steal, we requisition"! Isn't that the truth!

I love where you're taking this. Both Buffy and Spike seeking the aid of their friends to figure things out. Spike finanlly realizing (with a little help from his friends and Willow) that Buffy doesn't need his past brand of wooing. Buffy thinking things over carefully, about Spike and why he might be how she first thought him to be. I also loved Gunn's reference to her knowing Spike but knowing nothing about William.

I like Spike's "take charge" attitude with their "date" and hope that Buffy will go along with it, even though it is still a like his old methods. He just needs to keep it on the right level DURING the date! Then Buffy will have six weeks of "thinking" to do (unless of course you and muse have devised a method that puts her in the same place he's going to be for the next 6 weeks) I guess I'll just have to wait and see, but isn't it rewarding when your tale so stimulates someone elses imagination that they start guessing and second guessing where you might go with it?

Wow, when Spike decides to start showing some vulnerability, he really goes for it, doesn't he? Not quite sure what girl could resist saving the big bad from heimself - not me, that's for sure. I love how, despite Spike's private and public emotional expresssion, there's still little peeks on the old balls and swagger ("we don't steal, we requisition", and the not quite asking Buffy out on a date). Rome wasn't built in a day, and it rings very real to see that despite a lot more heart on his sleeve, Spike is still Spike.

Loved all the "friends" conversations, but Buffy and Gunn's was really amazing. You've written Gunn as someone who is able to be loyal to Spike and Buffy at the same time. Honestly, I think he's my favorite character in this fic (tho Willow was pretty cute too).

I have a feeling that dinner will bring up some things that really need pondering on, for both Spike and Buffy. So the setup for the 6 week absence is really perfect!

I wanted to be sure to keep a whimpy style of William out of this fic /bc it wouldn't fit, but that doesn't mean he won't have a few 'soft and tender' moments either.
