Nurse Nancy ramped up the crazy, but she is also obviously a genius. Her explanation for Vampires existing on every plane is fascinating and her plan is clever and horrible. With the deaths of Buffies across the multiverse, I take it Nurse Nancy is pumping Buffy full of dark matter, creating that doorway.

Putting faces on just a few of the women being killed drove the point home how awful her plan is. Willow is traveling through these universes looking for something. Her emails about Spike and each universe's version of Buffy being involved with him make me think he's the key. Nicely done.

This was a vivid image: The wind suddenly picked up somethin’ fierce. Tuffy felt her t-shirt rip up the middle like a napkin and float away. In the next moment, she realized that it wasn’t her shirt. Then something inside her chest turned to string and blew apart.

The bike kept going for awhile.

Then it stopped.
These people are real and Nancy doesn't care a bit.

This is a ripping read.

Author's Response: Thanks BP. I guess the email was supposed to be a little intentionally mysterious, looping over and over.

So our Willow knows somethings up an is traveling through some of these alternate times? Seems to be a touch more sci-fi creeping through this fic than I generally gravitate toward, but I do wonder. Enough for tonight, but more for later.

Author's Response: You rock BuffyRat. Thanks for sticking it out so far. There are a few sci-fi elements in the beginning. I think I just wanted to explore how technology sometimes creates a strange distance between people. It's definitely a theme in Clocks, reflecting the separation and alienation that all the Scoobies are experience after the end of Chosen. As they become adults and their world seems increasingly empty of magic, there begin to wall themselves off in gadgetry and artifical networks and power trips to make up for it. All except for Buffy, of course. I don't want to ruin anything, but I will say you may begin to see some gradual, but intern shifts over the next few chapters. After all, doesn't life come down to the simple things in the end - to wood and fire, love and magic? To blood? I think so. Anyway, thanks for all you're lovely reviews. It was really kind of you to send them, and I hope you stick with me to the end.

Loving this story! Wow, you have quite a tale to tell! The AU Buffy's had me snickering wildly, too funny! I'm not totally following the storyline, but I'm sure all will become clear.

Wonderful Xander bit, and Andrew is a hoot! And now we have Andrew together with Spike...

Looking forward to seeing where you take this next!

Author's Response: Thanks zanthine - so glad you think I nailed the Xander bit. He's such a complex character, and such an important one. I know the AU stuff raised more questions at this point than answers. I hope this doesn't sound like I'm making excuses, but I honestly planned to drop a bunch of confusing stuff in this chapter. The AU in general - and what's going on with Will specifically - is actually going to be an integral part of the story. I'd try to explain more, but I'm afraid of ruining a couple of big surprises.

Jesus. You have total control over this story, don't you? Amazing writing.

Author's Response: What a great compliment! Thanks, time! I hope so. I've got the bare bones in place, but I'm actually struggling with two big plot decisions right now that will affect the outcome of the story pretty drastically. I'll do my best.

This is an incredibly interesting story - I've been jonesing for a long time for a story where a post-Chosen Buffy is up against a Machiavellian Giles-run New Council, and while this isn't quite that, it's close enough. *g*

I had some qualms about how easily Giles, Xander, and Willow were disposed of early on, but I absolutely love the way you're revealing what's really been going on behind the scenes. Some of the intrigue has been a little confusing (particularly the chapter where Riley captures Giles) and might benefit with a little bit more setup and/or explanation - but only a little. On the whole, it's marvelously twisty.

I love your older, bitterer-but-still-fighting-the-good-fight Xander, and Andrew is a hoot. I'm still trying to figure out whose side Willow is on, but her ruthlessness is spot-on. I'm not quite sold on your characterization of Kennedy - I can buy her as power-hungry, and that being a Fatal Flaw that leads her into villain-hood, but she seems a bit over-the-top and moustache-twirly. Still, that's a comparatively minor quibble.

I'm really looking forward to seeing where you go with the rest of this. Thanks for a great read!

Author's Response: Thanks Barb! I've been jonesing to write this ever since the series ended. Obviously, the sixth season was my favorite. I love plunging all of Joss's great characters into the darkness, and figuring out how they handle it. I totally understand what you mean about Kennedy... maybe I just hate her too much. She'll pop up again here... I'll see if I can give her an extra layer or two.

If anyone doubts that Buffy and Spike should be together, they should be shown that every world has a Buffy who is with , was with or wants to be with Spike.

Great explanation of Slayers, vampires and the multiverse.

Author's Response: Thanks Tamara! Man I was really praying that people didn't start flaming me for this section... so glad they didn't. I had a tough time writing it.

WOW!
This story is absolutely terrifying! I love what you're doing! Keep it up!

Author's Response: Thanks! I've tried to keep the horror elements to a minimum so far, but there's still some spooky stuff on the horizon for the gang. So glad you're into it!

So they are killing of Buffys in alternate realities and Willow has gone completely off the reservation now. Sweet :)

I like this story but this last chapter has me completely stumped. Is she talking about calling all the Buffys from other time zones, I'm confused

Author's Response: Thanks, scary! Yeah, I was a little worried about this chapter... it's confusing on purpose, but what's happening at the end of it is critical to the story arc. Its also a kind of wink and nod to AU fiction in general, since I'm attempting canon, here. I promise things will begin making sense again very shortly .
