Buffy's unexpected news was a real bright spot in this emotionally wrenching chapter. This sharp, heart breaking synopsis of Buffy's life was devastating: “My mom died when I was eleven. My sister was already married, you know? So I came to live with her. They should’ve just let me go into a foster home. I might have been safer.”

This, too: Eyes closed, Will followed the orders. Experience had taught him not to disobey, not to fight what too often ended up making him bleed. Better to just. . . . a small, tiny part of him died inside, every time.

Shriveled, broke, shattered. These two have suffered so much at the hands of Liam Angelus, it's no wonder they're emotionally shattered. It's wonderful they found each other. They both needed the emotional life line.

I just found this story, and words can't express how I feel right now. It's heartbreaking, but beautifully written and I just hope you'll keep writing and updating. Please? I loved it!

Author's Response: Thank you. It's quite possibly the hardest thing I've ever tried to write, so the updates might be a bit . . . sporadic, but I swear, I will finish it.

Author's Response: Therapy is a wonderful thing -- so long as you have the right therapist. I've done what I can to move on, and, I suppose that's all I can do (well not all of it, but I won't get into everything else I do). Whoooo this is a hard story to read but you are doing a fabulous job taking on such a tough subject. The way you are writing Spike and Buffy is fabulous and thank you for doing the time back and forth. It makes it a bit easier to read knowing that they both eventually got out.

Excellent job - your writing is flawless and I can't wait for the next update.

It's kind of hard to review a story such as this, but I will try. I give you kudos for having the courage for writing a story such as this. It's never easy, even if you haven't lived through it. If you have, it's even worse, 'cause I know from personal experience, that it has the power to bring back demons, even those that have been dealt with. As always, your writing is flawaless...and conveys the power & the gravity of the subject matter perfectly. It's not fun subject matter, but it's real and it happens. I'm here as long as you're writing it.

P.S. Have to say that I absolutely love the ending to this chapter. I thought the love that they share was the light at the end of the tunnel. I know the baby is a manifestation of that love, but it's so much more than that. As she said, it's hope personified, in so many ways, and I feel strongly, that is especially so for Spike.

The demons strike at the oddest moments -- even after you think you've recovered -- sometimes years later. It colors everything you do and everything you don't. Relationships suffer -- even platonic ones. I'm so glad you got what Buffy was trying to say to Spike, about the baby. . that means so much! Thanks again for your wonderful review.

You are one of the best writers in this website. This subject is untouchable in main stream writing, and yet you are handling the subjects quite well. I enjoy the flashbacks giving us a well rounded view of all the personalities involved and the current views of the outcomes. Thank you for sharing your insights and this story.

They're having a baby? Wow. I hope they're ready. Maybe this baby will help them move on a bit. Poor Buffy and Spike. They're so hurt. I can't wait for the next chapter!

I like Spike's reason why he only brings Buffy wild flowers. I'm so glad for Buffy she found Spike.
He knows it himself, what it can do to you. Good he left before he broke. I guess he never told anybody, Angelus was (is) still working at the school.
The baby will connect them both; as Buffy said, Hope for them both. ~ Loved it.
