I'm in love with this story! It's so well written and a great idea !!
BTW I know it's been ages but are you going to finish the sequel? Cause I'd love to read it after I finish reading this :D

Author's Response: Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I am going to finish the sequel. I feel awful that it's been hanging for so long! But I will finish it! :) I'm glad you like this story, and thanks for writing!

I love them striking this massive, personal, life altering deal in such an incredibly platonic way, as if they're talking about a relationship between two other people at times. And this Buffy is already so conniving. I really like her. Like her will to live. Her desire to be the best. Really are two peas in a pod. And the ramblings of Dru. Naughty Angelus. So very good.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked their deal. Buffy and Spike are both going in to this somewhat detached, but you know the longer they're together, the more their feelings will come out. And Dru and Angelus have no idea what to expect... Thanks for reviewing!

Your dialogue is very well written, and the conversations are in character and believable. Spike and Buffy havn't known each other very long, and though there are strong emotions between them, love isn't one of them. There's a feeling of inevitability, though, and it's lovely to read.

I can't wait to read Giles' reaction to Buffy's arrival with Spike in tow. I hope he doesn't immediately suffer a heart attack.

Dru's vision speaks of lots of doom and gloom for the Aurelians. Should be fun.

Author's Response: Thank you for the compliments on the dialogue! I'm always flattered when people think I have the character voices correct. Yes, Buffy and Spike have a connection, even if it isn't love yet. Hmm, Giles won't be finding out about Spike for a bit... Glad you liked the chapter!

Wow! Didn't see that one coming. None of it, really. Especially not the way Buffy is planning to pay Spike with for his services. I can't wait to read how it's going to work and find out what's going to happen once they get to Sunnydale.

Author's Response: Glad I'm keeping people guessing! I was kind of wondering how people were going to take 'the deal' at first, but I guess we all love some good Spuffy biting. :)

Now that's clever: her blood. Money was never going to hook him even though he would want to be with her. His rep. would be in tatters if it was just money causing him to betray his kind publicly. This way, he is being given a fee that any vampire would covet: Slayer's blood. To drink from the golden font with no stake in sight. To his undead bretheren, there is no sense of him going soft, just taking advantage of a continuous prize. His not taking the ultimate prize after the first drain - well, he's in the vicinity, given a free pass, isn't he? And, from Buffy's end, this blood thing is so much more a lure and even a sense of control. Keep your friends close and your enemies even closer ....... It is also her way of sanctioning his proximity and using this 'asset' to her advantage. For, ironically, it is going to be a member of the undead, a successful slayer of slayers who is going to keep her from becoming the next, promptly slain Slayer.

Loving it

Author's Response: Glad you like it! Yes, Spike and Buffy are both getting something out of her odd little deal. He does want to be around her, and if she wants to pay him with her own blood to fight with her, he's not going to complain. And the irony won't be lost on Buffy, especially when it comes to light that the vampires on the Hellmouth are none other than Spike's old 'group.' Thanks for reviewing!

The talk between them took an unexpected turn. I didn't expect this was the way Spike came to SD too. Very clever :-D
Loved it! Hopefully soon more :)

Author's Response: Hehe, thank you! Glad it wasn't obvious! My plan all along was to have Buffy pay Spike for his help. Thanks for reviewing!

Absolutely fab chapter. Loved their talk - very honest - and now their deal. Can't wait to see how Spike will react when he has to go up against his whole family. Am so looking forward to your next update and thank you for writing such a brilliant story.

Author's Response: Glad people are liking the deal, I wasn't sure about how it was going to be taken. Though it was in my plan from the beginning. Yeah, Spike's in for a surprise, but so is Buffy. Wesley never mentioned that the Aurelians are related to Spike, and Spike never mentioned any of them by name but Dru. Thank you for the compliments, but thank you for reading more!

You know, I started thinking this morn. If S is so open about his feelings, it's kind of given that he hasn't gotten burnt yet. He's not bitter about all the women he's ever wanted, discarding him. Quite the opposite, he's acting as if he has never had a refusal in his life, as if it would depend on him, how much he will get out of this relationship. It should indicate that he never really loved Dru or if he did, she hasn't hurt him as much as in canon. Or maybe S really just does not understand what is going on here, in his unbeating heart. But I doubt it, unless he's never even loved before (which brings me to the beginning of the theory - he's never been hurt.). Or will you resolve it somehow differently all together?

Author's Response: Well, I like to think that Spike was in love with Dru. And she did hurt him, by going back to Angelus, even after all the time they were alone together. But, that was twenty years ago, so he's had time to distance himself from it. As for "all the women he's ever wanted," I suppose there was a Cecily somewhere in his past, but it won't come up in this story, since in canon Spike never thought of Cecily's rejection until Buffy also said "you're beneath me." But mainly my Spike is open (or at least, was in the last chapter) because there had been enough of him mysteriously appearing and being mysterious. They both needed to lay it on the line so that the next step can continue, and say what they feel (or at least, what they think they feel). Because once they get to Sunnydale, there will be a whole new set of issues (not necessarily all about Dru). Thanks for writing!

Another great chapter! I love this story! Interesting plot with surprising twists, great characterizations, succinct dialogue – okay, fawning session is over!

I look forward to more…

Author's Response: Well, thank you for the fawn. :) It's always nice to hear what people think I'm doing right. Apparently I do do plot twists, since everyone keeps telling me so. Just tyring to keep things interesting. :) Thanks for reviewing!

Great, blood offer. It shows how much buffy trusts spike. He's a killer, yeah, but he's not gonna kill her. Anyway, drinking could always lead to 'something else'... *grins*. Love it like usual!

Author's Response: Yes, drinking could definitely lead to something else. :) Buffy might find out that it's not as easy as "bite and suck" between them. Thanks for reading!

Well, this should be interesting, especially with Dru. I don't remember for sure, but I don't think he said that he didn't love her anymore. He just that he left her years before. Thanks for the update!

Author's Response: Well, he didn't say that he didn't love her, but he's no longer IN love with her. Some feelings will remain, of course. Thanks for reviewing!

Oht hat was good, I glad he is going with her, but wait till he finds out has to fight his family

Author's Response: Yeah, Wesley might have neglected to mention that little detail to Buffy, that Spike is part of the Aurelians. Thought she might get the wrong idea about them if she knew; too bad he didn't know what she was planning on doing. :) Spike and Buffy will both be in for a little shock. Glad you're enjoying it!

wow, brilliant.loved the fee Buffy offered. lookig forward to the next chapter

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Yeah, Spike may know how to push Buffy's buttons, but Buffy knows how to get Spike's attention. :)

ow-ow-ow!! it hurts!! it hurts so much not to have an update right now!!! god, it hurts! I thought she would offer him sex. Does she even realise that any time she lets him drink from her she risks her life? Is she crazy? I wonder how Giles will take it? I hope she simply won't tell him. And about resolving the awkward question thing - I thought Spike would lie about having any feelings for her but your Spike is way more honest than any other I've read. I'm not sure I agree with it but I like it for the time being. And now I love your Buffy. This kind of proposition was a smart move, though I'd worry less if she could pay him with money. She's resourseful and knows what she wants.

Author's Response: Aw, if she offered him sex, she'd be a prostitute. Now, she's just morally questionable. :) Aw, she's not too crazy. Sure, it may not be the most brilliant idea she's ever had, but obviously Spike has a deal of control, since he's already had some of her blood. Nope, she won't be telling Giles, or anyone, though it will come out eventually. As for Spike being honest, well, he was pretty honest during the episode Crush, so I didn't see it as that much of a stretch. Glad you're enjoying it, and thanks for reading!

I love it! Really enjoyed Buffy and Spike finally clearing the air - it gives them a new, if not entirely comfortable place to start from.

Spike is certainly going to be a force to be reckoned with, with the Gem of Amara AND a consistant diet of Slayer blood. Can't wait to see what Giles thinks about his new charge's "employee".

I am so excited for the rest of the ride!

Author's Response: Hehe, well, Giles won't be finding out for a while. Spike is going to Buffy's dirty little secret. (Though I promise, no Spike abuse, like when he was her dirty little secret on the show.) Yeah, what with the Gem and the blood, Spike's going to be pretty dangerous. Good thing we have Buffy to keep him in line! Thanks for reviewing!

I loved-Loved-LOVED it! The honesty, the talk, so true to them, and the business deal--OH, THE BUSINESS DEAL!!!

THANK YOUOUOU! The night ahead of me is expected to be shitty, but you gave me a happy *does happy dance* (get your mind out of the gutter, lol)

This was perfect, can't wait for more, though I know I'll have to!

XXX

Author's Response: Hehe, the business deal. It's all about the business. :) Glad I made your day, so to speak. Thanks for reviewing!

This story is fabulous! Great transition chapter. I'm glad to see them finally have a real conversation instead of Spike just jumping in and out of situations.

Sounds like it's about to get very very intersesting indeed!

Author's Response: Yeah, he was kind of come and go there for a bit, but not to worry, he'll be around tons since Buffy has hired him. :) Thanks for the compliments, and thanks for reading!
