How can he not think himself in love with her. You protect someone you work for, but you only possess someone you love, or maybe what they have is deeper. Yes, it is deeper. And it's done so amazingly.

The feeding is so intimate, and Spike just takes it naturally to the next level. There's no reason for the holding or the post-feeding cuddling, but it's all so comfortable. He's right, they do get along best when there's no talking, just existing.

Joyce being part of the loop happened organically, and it will make things much easier for Buffy. She's an adult in this story, in college, so this makes sense. She would be making her own decisions anyway, and this way Joyce will be safer.

Spike's musings were intriguing. He's not willing to define his relationship with Buffy, but neither is she. I'm sure something's going to give, but for now they're finding their way.

It's a lovely read.

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! Yes, Joyce knowing just seemed to be the way to go. Buffy is in college, and doesn't need to be sneaking around. Being upfront about being the Slayer seemed like the adult thing to do, even if it was prompted by Joyce seeing a vampire. And neither Buffy or Spike are discussing their relationship. They're very comfortable with each other, emotionally and physically, but there are still so many long term issues that divide them. Thanks for reading!

Oh wow! I just LOVED this chapter! Loved the sexy bloodsucking, the way Joyce found out and sort of accepted her daughter was a Slayer and the part with Spike mulling over what he feels for Buffy and now the promise of a semi-date? Yay! Can't wait for more!

I loved this chapter. And I loved the pensive thoughts in Spike's head. Although there was nothing sexual about him biting her I will admit it was HOT!!

I absolutely loved this line: So little and light and sweet. But she’d be able to take anyone, anything that threatened her.

And if she couldn’t, he would.

Okay, this was just...wonderful...or fabulous or some other superlative. It's fun. It's well written. And so far it has a Buffy and a Spike with brains of their own and not on the autopilot of conditioning. No Buffy whipped Spike. No rigid, controlling, denying, violence automaton of a Buffy. They live, they breathe and so do all the minor characters.

*sigh of contentment and great joy*

REALLY, REALLY looking forward to the rest of the story.

Ok, so this is my favorite story I've read in such a long time, and I'm completely freaking out because you posted two chapters in one weekend and they were both absolutely amazing. I love this slow development of their feelings, it's so realistic and I just love it so much! I know I've said love love love a ton but this is a really great story and I hope your muse is able to keep up with the rabid and insatiable desires of your fans!

I thought it would be a bit disturbing for Buffy that Spike becomes totally lifeless but she's okay with that.
And not only Buffy missed Spike on Christmas when he wasn't around, Spike too. Has cost him a lot of cigarettes. Good gift Buffy chose for him :)

Great chapter, as always! I'm glad that Joyce knows about the slaying, and that she took it well... or al least it seems she did. I also like this side of Buffy, so hopefully she won't be a super bitch when Spike tells her how he feels.

Loved the SPike POV, boy is he sort of torn even though he knows he's doomed. But it's good to see he wants her to be the best. Also glad the slayer bit came out to Joyce - it always makes it so much easier when she knows. ANd wow, how sweet was Buffy coming with her little present despite the fact she doesn't smoke, lol. Great chapter boo, and I voted for you today. Good luck on the awards and great chapter - hugs.

Awww, she got him something for Christmas (and getting him cigarettes was really thoughtful, I have been couch-bound for 3 days now and have begged my entire family to go get me some smokes but to no avail! Thank God my best friend brought me some!--- end of rant)

A little cuddle and a little insight into Spike's psyche..
Seems Joyce handled things ok.. Waiting to see if you don anything with Joyce and Giles.. Loved Band Candy and "Ripper".

Spike and Buffy .. Friends... with benefits..
