Wes' reasons for trying to extricate Buffy from Spike were very reasonable. He never trusted Spike fully, though Wes knew Spike would honor an agreement. His concern for Buffy was always genuine. I enjoyed Buffy reading him the riot act, but what did it really accomplish other than alerting Wes that she's still thinking about Spike?

Spike is so caring and careful in this story, Faith's dire warnings ring false. Is there something other than slayer dreams afoot? She's trying to drive a wedge between Buffy and her vampire, but Spike would just follow her around, protecting her whether she wanted it or not. I love that Spike let the I love you slip in the middle of the night. It makes it feel like it was part of the dream, though now Buffy has those words in her head and heart.

Author's Response: Buffy calling Wesley might not have been the wisest snap decision, but it did get some things out in the open. Faith, for the most part, is just trying to mess with Buffy. AWWWW IM SO HAPPY THAT SHE HEARD HIM SAY HE LOVES HER!! i LOVE this story and am so happy that u updated. i cant believe faith, is she even there to help buffy fight angelus? i really hope that buffy doesnt freak out about him loving her and that she doesnt deny it. also i hope that everything works out well and that they end up together and happy. Think Buffy calling Wes was a mistake..surely he will call Giles and inquire about Spike and his knowledge about said vampire..

LOVED it, boo. And can I say Buffy's dreams of Faith are just plain creepy? I wonder if there realy is a purpose or reason she's having them... but you'll let us know all in good time, I'm sure. Sighs - I was floored with Spike's 3 word comfession. Good thing Buffy believes him over some dream. I like how she handled Wesley, too, go Buffy, lol. I understand your need to take a break to get your focus back. I know I'll be waiting patiently for the next update no matter when it comes, too. Ah... the nightmare. Buffy acts a little shocked/weird/not knowing to say because of Spike's declaration. I hope she'll react the right way, not to shut him out.

Author's Response: Wesley was sort of echoing Buffy to irritate her, but he was also referring to the fact that Spike killed Smith for her, which is another thing Wesley kept from her (though Spike did threaten him over it.) As for how Buffy will react to Spike's declaration, that's coming up! Oh no, the last chapter I post before my break will definitely be a good stopping place, tying up one story arc.
