That is a whole lot of emotion going on there. Glad he finally got that murder out in the open, and that she is being mostly rational about it. And telling Spike about the prophecy. Like that little bit too.

Author's Response: Things are slowly becoming gray to Buffy... This chapter had a few revelations from both sides. Thanks for reviewing!

She just wants to stop you. I want to eat you.” BEST LINE EVER. Loved the rest and how it isn't just easy and they are still working at it.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Yeah, Buffy and Spike are always going to have to work a bit, I think... I'm glad you liked it!

“On the other hand, a Slayer making a blood deal with an infamous vampire is sort of bad.” HAHAHHAAH, but how awesome is that? YAY - I made reading your update my reward after finishing a super-huge group project for class and it was sooooooooo worth it - I'm smiling away after reading this and eagerly awaiting the next chapter. I really hope Buffy get's what Spike is trying to convey so hard for her to understand... defintely some very deep stuff you wrote - hard to refute Spike's logic. Fab update darling - keep up the awesome work - hugs you tight for making my day brighter.

Author's Response: Thank you! Well, I'm flattered to be your reward. :) Yeah, Buffy can see how the prophecy looks bad on paper. She's got some thinking to do about what happened in this chapter, though... I'm glad you liked it and thanks for reviewing!

What an emotional, believable exchange. Your Buffy is able to look at Spike's lack of a moral compass and believably accept him. Their relationship isn't all hugs and puppies, there's compromise on both sides. It's making for a wonderful read.

Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, Buffy and Spike will always have some issues, but there is compromise. Thanks for reviewing!

I'd like to add a couple things to my previous review.

I absolutely love your characterisation of Buffy: since things started in a different way than in BTVS, she's far more open minded, without it being unrealistic.

And, I know I'm going a little off topic, but I'd like to clarify what I said about taking matters in your own hand. An example: suppose you owe money to a man. He comes to collect, but you don't have them. Then he starts to make lewd suggestions and pushing you around. You understand he wants to rape you and you panic: you grab a lamp and hit him 3-4 times killing him. Shouldn't you have been more careful? After all he hadn't harmed you... yet.
At this point, since he didn't have time to cause you injury and there wasn't anybody around to see, how do you demonstrate you didn't kill hm intentionally because of the money? Should you have let him hit you before defending yourself just to have a proof that he wanted to rape you ???

So is it right Buffy didn't want Spike to go after the man who is probably going to rape another girl in the future, since the police couldn't?

Is it wrong Spike defended Buffy by killing (ok "killing" maybe was a little too much but he IS a vamp) the man who was certainly gong to do the same to her or worse?

Ok - stopping my tirade here :)

Author's Response: Well, even if Spike did do something to the guy, Buffy wouldn't let Spike kill him. So, I suppose there's every chance that the guy might do the same thing again to a girl, even if Spike bit him. Assuming the guy wasn't so terrified that he never set foot in a dark alley again. It might be wrong that Spike killed the man after Buffy. Maybe it was an illegal pre-emptive self-defense. But Buffy ultimately had nothing to do with it, so it's all on Spike. She'll have to decide whether she's okay with Spike doing anything to criminals. Everyone has their own answers of right and wrong. In some way, that's part of the conflict that Spike and Buffy will always have.

Huh, Buffy is dealing better than I expected when forced out of her denial. I'm mighty proud of her!

Thank you for another brilliant update, can't wait for more!

*hugs*

Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

I just LOVE the way Buffy is slowly comin to understand the gray areas and the words, the situations you choose to convey this aspect are so right !

BTW the moral dilemma you presented would still stand even if Spike wasn't a vamp: there are many instances in real life where the police isn't/can't be as efficient as it should be and you are tempted to / have to take matters in your own hands

Author's Response: Thank you! I had always intended to use this situation when Buffy found out that Spike had killed someone for her and why he had done it. Thanks for reviewing!

Buffy is learning to see the grey areas... or so it seems. But it was a hard lesson for her.
Gladly they made it through Spike's confession without much harm. Hard to tell Buffy's reaction beforehand.
~ Enjoyed the update :)

Author's Response: Thank you! Buffy has a bit of thinking to do now... I'm glad you liked it!

Another moral dilema for those two to work through. I know that they can come up with some sort of compromise. Great chapter. I'm looking forward to reading more. Please update soon!

Author's Response: Yeah, they will eventually find some compromise... Thanks for reviewing!

Oh, those shades of gray... can't always be black or white Buffy.. But she does handle it better than BtVS.

Spike.. a serial killer whose conscious only points in the direction of the Slayer.. And she can live another day because of it ..

Doesn't Buffy realize most Slayers probably didn't live to be 18 ..and she is aready past that ? But I feel the longer life has more significance than that..

Enjoyed.. and always love to read about their developing relationship. Didn't know how you were going to write this story.. figured less about them and more about the normal BtVS stuff. But I like this much better.

Author's Response: Yeah, I think this Buffy handles gray better. Though she's been dealing with gray almost from the beginning, with her relationship with Spike. It's true that Buffy is already past the age most Slayers live to, though she actually hasn't been the Slayer that long. I think this story ended up being about Spike and Buffy. I mean, any Spuffy story is, but the core of the conflict here is always going to be between them. They may have external obstacles to fight as well, but it's not the driving force. Thanks for reviewing!

Very intense. Not sure I like Spike's attitude esp. since he promised Buffy that he wouldn't go after anyone as long as she gave him her slayer blood. Can't wait for the next update!

Author's Response: Well, he promised he wouldn't kill anyone. But it's hard to stop being a vamp just like that. Thanks for reviewing!
