Aww, I'm glad she is okay.

But god I can't remember the prophecy, other stories keep mixing in :/ was it that she would mate with a vampire or something? Are they mated? It's been so long since I've read stories now since been away a while..

Well, gonna read more now;)

XXX

Author's Response: The prophecy was that she would be the longest lived Slayer, but that she would do so by making an alliance with something evil (Spike). Thanks for reviewing!

Seeing Spike through Xander's eyes set the emotional tone of this vivid chapter. His fear and sorrow were frightening, and then his disconnect and anxiety at the hospital ramped the tension up even higher. This isn't the in control, swaggering vampire the gang is used to seeing. It brought the real possibility that Buffy could die home.

I enjoyed the entire waiting room scene, and Spike settling in once he realized if Buffy wasn't dead, she wasn't going to die. I still didn't relax until the surgeon stepped out of the OR with the news. Spike had every right to call himself Buffy's husband. She would have done the same under the circumstances. They may as well be married.

Joyce's anger and frustration at the violence of Buffy's world was beautifully conveyed, and I love that she thanked Spike for always having Buffy's back. It's the kind of reassurance he needed when watching his poor, injured slayer. Hopefully, they'll have each others' backs for years to come.

Author's Response: Thank you! For the first part, it just seemed natural to write it from Xander's point of view. Buffy's unconscious, and Spike is too out of it to be thinking of anything but her. And it allows Xander to see Spike in a different light. Buffy and Spike might as well be married, since they've got that level of commitment to each other and are just as serious. I'm glad you liked the chapter, and thanks for leaving such a thoughtful review!

So glad that she made it out of that. Certainly hoped that she would but it's always nice to see things on the other side. And Spike, her stalwart watchman. Powerful chapter. Thanks for sharing.

Author's Response: Yeah, Buffy made it. I wasn't going to let her die, LOL. :) Thanks for reviewing!

These last two chapters have been bloody fantastic. I really adore how you worked the action and the emotion so simply but so powerfully. Spike's needing to shower was a really well done touch, as was the comfort he kept repeating to himself that once a slayer is stabalized, they will just get better.

As this story is winding up, I'll be sad to see it go, but its been an amazing journey and I'm positive I've not said it often enough. But thank you for it and I always look forward to more.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the chapters! You know, at first I was afraid I wouldn't be able to sell the fact that Spike leaves the hospital, even though he was covered in blood, but I think it really ended up working.

I loved that in the big fight, Buffy was the one who had to protect Spike, instead of the other way around. And I loved that Spike remembered her blood type, and how important it was that he wash her blood off.

Author's Response: Thank you! I also like it when Buffy gets to save Spike. And of course Spike knew her blood type, LOL! :) Thanks for reviewing!

*nods* There was the prophecy. Leave it to Anya to point out how it could have been fulfilled and yet gone bad. But thank god they were early enough to make sure that Buffy made it. :)
Much better cliffhanger (if I can call it that at all) this time. :)

Author's Response: Anya does have a habit of saying the wrong thing... Yeah, not much of a cliffhanger. :) Thanks for reviewing!

This was just beautiful.
I'm going to miss this 'Sideways" world when this story ends. Is there any hope that you might write more stories about their continued relationship?

Author's Response: Thank you! Well, I do have a short story planned, set a year or so after Sideways.
