Awe :) Update. Sweet William so nervous...
And what a way to get married for the woman. Only given away from one prison to the other. (Not in this case and maybe not in others, it just came to my mind because nobody asks the woman. Well at last not at least, in the church. Can't say what happens before.
What a difference to the Norse ceremony (when Buffy got asked what she wanted).

Author's Response: under saxon norms the woman was viewed as slightly more valuable than a cow, it was her blood line that was of value..it was worse under Norman law, at least under saxon she owned her own property

Still here with ya, and will continue to nag for chappie... Gah! The Wedding Day and we STILL have to wait for at least another chappie til it happens! Consider this henceforth to be nagging for more! Was good to see good friends sat vigil with William (much as they would were he being knighted or elevated to any other great estate, which, well, he actually IS somewhat by the terms of the treaty and his marriage). And how sweetly shy he is among married men's talk, as well as quietly discreet, to keep the secrets (or not, among Buffy's kin and few Saxons such as his clergy) of his relationship previous to his marriage with Buffy quiet and discreet; he could've boasted and told tales with the other men, and would have had he been like his brothers, but thankfully he is not. You convey so well the good man that he is here, Much akin to the William the poet of the TV show (but more useful!), but having faced and bested more adversity in life, having had a positive experience with his Buffy, and having not had to resort to wearing the tough as nails and uncaring mask usually seen on "our Spike".
Your handling of Druscilla at the end was gracious; a sad end for her, but a good way to bring Dru's madness into the tale.
Great that you brought up the factual stench that had to roll off people, especially those in lowered circumstances such as the insane, beggars, poor and prisoners (not to mention people on an everyday basis in general, plus soldiers, tradesmen, farmers/herdsmen/butchers, and pilgrims (not the kind from early American colonies). I used to hate watching Monty Python's Jaberwocky JUST because it so blightedly depicted this kind of thing in almost smell-o-rific graphic detail! (I wanted to keep my fantasy of chivalric romance!)
The guards that allowed Liam to grab Buffy should have been, (and hopefully will) beaten. But I loved that Buffy defended herself in a manner that did not emasculate Wm. Gotta love a woman who is always prepared. Somehow I have the feeling she started carrying that knife back when her husband was alive though, he being a man like Liam.

Wow, what a dramatic start to Buffy and William's wedding day! The Ordeal definitely played out in a fascinatingly unexpected way. I also enjoyed reading William's thoughts regarding his upcoming nuptials. And go Buffy, gotta respect a girl who always comes prepared. :D Loved the update!

I bet neither Harold nor Liam did think that the day would end for them as it did. A greater justice took place. In a way with Liam too. Underestimating Buffy was the last error he did make.
