Xander has an attitude here if Buffy or Willow knew of it he wouldn't be in such good graces. So the reason Xander hated Spike wasn't a special one, just rejection. But no reason (other than in Xander's eyes) to let Spike fight alone, going without regret or bad conscience.

Yeah, pretty much agree with everybody else. Xander is such a jerk right now. Not only about leaving Spike there but not feeling guilty at all.
So, Xander is gay. He likes men that is why no woman will never be enough. And he found Spike attractive. Who can blame Xander. He is jealous not because of Buffy but because of Spike or because of something he will never have.
Am I understanding it right. That Xander is gay?
