Fred jumping down William's throat was delightful, and she was absolutely right. He and Elizabeth need to calm down, her appearance after the afternoon's fun would certainly have shocked Joyce, causing a rift between her and William. Wes' nervousness is charming and in character. How can he imagine Fred would ever say no?

Hank sleazing about and gambling and drinking is within character, but I'm left anxious for the happy couple. Hank has only one thing to sell, and that's the terms of Elizabeth's engagement. It's going to hurt when that comes out, and Hank doesn't give a damn about hurting her or Joyce.

Author's Response: Wow, many thanks for the awesome review! I agree with you that Fred is right about this, and that William and Elizabeth need to be a little more careful. He's quite stubborn, though, and is quite taken with his bride-to-be, so we'll see how much does he really mind his sister. *giggles*
You're right about Hank, too, to a certain point. He has no qualms over hurting Buffy or Joyce, and doesn't care what he has to do as long as it's advantageous for him.

Poor Wesley! Worrying if Fred will accept his proposal. Can't wait for the next update!

What an evil place to end the chapter! I liked Fred's scolding of her brother and Spike's pushing Wes to proposing, though I hope he doesn't make a mess of it and upset Fred because of his nervousness. You showed all the different character's thoughts very well and showed how suited they are to be friends simply, and then left us with a great mystery about what Hank Summers and the devilish stranger might start planning. Great chapter.

AWESOME! This chapter had it all - Spuffy sparkage (though mutted), Fred slapping the back of Spike's head (giggles), poor Wesley being cornered to marry the woman he loves, and a nice little cliffy at the end. And you call ME and evil cliffy woman? HA! I learned it from YOU, missy!
