Author's Response: They both know in their hearts that there's no such thing as a free-zone. I don't know for sure whether rails without gunpowder is possible; but rails didn't seem to need it, other than blasting a straight line through rocky territory. Thank you for liking the story anyway!

Author's Response: Spike does know that Buffy will end things. ;'( 'Spelunke' is German for a dive, right? The kind of lowlife bar that's dangerous. And that word comes from the Latin word 'spelunca' for 'cave'. In the 1950s, the U.S. started used 'spelunking' to mean exploring dangerous caves. A friend of mine is a caver and told me where the word came from. I'll be posting Chapter 8 around 2 pm on Monday. That would be about 8 pm in Germany, right? The weekend let me proof and post 2 chapters quicker than usual
