I didn't guess that Buffy would be able to accept Spike's affections. Especially after how she reacted the first time. But maybe the claim, the feeling of belonging has helped.

Author's Response: Hello there, Cordykitten! :) Yeah, Spike has to vent his (sexual) frustration somehow, and what better way than to beat up an inanimate object? ;) The link between them certainly helps with the whole intimacy thing, mainly becasue looking into Spike's eyes and feeling him helps Buffy to stay grounded and not drown in the past. And nope, Spike did not know... big surpise indeed! :) Especially since he never would have guessed it, what with Buffy being sexually abused. More to his reaction in the next chapter.
