Joyce in her maternal role is more concerned with why Buffy has changed as opposed to her being alive and in her life again. I'm glad that Buffy is getting some payback to someone who hurt her, even though it may not be in the best of circumstances. Lucky for Joyce that Spike is there to stop Buffy from doing something she may regret and cannot undo later. Look forward to more.

Author's Response: Joyce has now noticed that something is definitely not right. There's something more than 'my daughter ran away with a boy', and she'll have to deal once she finds out what had really happened to Buffy. As much as Dave deserves to die, Spike knows that in the end, Buffy couldn't live with herself if she killed a human... as much as she'd been abused, she's still Buffy. And we all know he has a weird thing for not very vampire-fitting TV shows. lol I'm glad you liked the thoughts, it tends to be like that... people don't always say the things running through their mind out loud so they don't hurt someone's feelings, and at that point Buffy was trying not to let her mom know what had really happened to her. Now though, she has some explaining to do... otherwise, as you said, Joyce will think Buffy has gone off her rocker. Buffy took Spike's confession well. :)
I hoped so. I can understand her wish for revenge (Lukas) too. It's good to be Buffy so happy and Spike so supportive (like with Buffy's decision about Lukas). And that he takes care that Buffy gets trained again; she is slowly coming back to herself, being the slayer.

Author's Response: That she did! ;) She knew he was just doing it to protect her, and she can't very well berate him for that, not when she can't find it in herself to feel bad about the lives he'd taken... for what they did to her, even the humans deserved what Spike did to them. Lukas though, that one Buffy has to face by herself, to take back the power he'd stripped away from her. Spike knows that, and that's why he is being so helpful... plus, him being Spike, he couldn't very well pass up the opportunity to spar with slayer, could he? *winks* Thank you for the awesome review!!! :D

Protective Spike is something I love reading about. Buffy meeting her mother abruptly was a shock but one she can easily face with Spike. So glad that Spike is destroying those who hurt his mate. Look forward to more.

It is. Silly Buffy. She wanted to protect Joyce and she has hurt Joyce even more. And herself (because she really did nothing wrong, she was kidnapped but Joyce thinks the worst now).
Buffy need a shrink that is used to demons; there must be someone around. Like there should be a demon doctor.
*gg* And Buffy was clever to distract Spike but this way he spilled his secret. I hope Buffy will appreciate it (sounds like it but I can't be sure.

Not silly, just amazingly perceptive!! :) Buffy is always putting everyone else's interests before her own, and by not telling Joyce it's worse for her than it is for her mom. She also doesn't think she can trust her mom not to lock her up again if she told the truth, and that's what is really holding her back... but you know, truth always comes up one way or another. Buffy is hesitant disclosing such personal and painful things to someone who could care less. By telling Spike, she can let all of it go and feel safe at the same time. LOL She knows exactly what to do to get a reaction out of Spike. ;) Hold onto your instinct, it might be right! Thank you for another awesome review, cordykitten!!! :D

I really liked this chapter! Love the small mystery of where Spike's been and what he's been doing. And will he come home to find Buffy in her element, fighting? The hint about Spike stretching himself too thin and where that could lead... perfect!

Buffy was able to talk about it (and even to cry)? It's a good thing that she could let her feelings out. Well, it's a start.
Spike came home late, and sometimes there were bruises on his face and body he couldn't convincingly explain. So Spike is getting his revenge already? Almost sounds like it.
Buffy is on her way to find back to being the slayer again. That too will help her I think.

I don't like to make you wait longer than week for an update! :) Talking (and yep, even crying) is an important step towards healing for her, and who better to talk to than Spike?
