There's a wonderfully angsty sense of longing and melancholy here: Now she lay on the bed, the music playing in the living room. She didn’t even know why she was clinging so hard to this–this tiny bit of memory from a moment when she hadn’t even really liked Spike.

But it was the only piece of music she had to associate with him–apart from the whole musical demon deal, her traitorous mind reminded–and it made her feel close to him. Buffy not even liking the song but listening to it over and over is a way for her to mourn the vampire she's lost.

The physical reality of that dream was vivid and emotional. Buffy's refusal to accept the reality of this vampire made it all feel dreamlike despite the evidence. I'm still not sure if this time she's going to "wake up." Nicely done.

Just started reading this story, really am intrigued on whether Buffy is manifesting Spike with her mourning his demise or just destiny giving her a "crumb" making her walk in Spikes shoes in a role reversal. Look forward to more.

Great chapter! Loved it! You conveyed their tenderness & quiet emotions very well. Loved that last little bit about their burn scars. Too many people overlook the probability of that. Can't wait to see how it's possible (in your fic) for Spike to be (or manifest) there & seem solid. Thanks for the lovely read!
