I'm glad to see this Why did he suddenly feel as if the human part of him had woken from a deep slumber? ~ The dam separating his humanity from the demon had been cracking for so long that he failed to see the warnings.
So sad to see Drusilla killing the little child - but it was a wake-up call for Spike.
Uh-huh... Buffy found out. Giles had no chance hiding it. He should have done better.

Author's Response: As you said, the part of little girl dying was very sad but it was the trigger for Spike to realize his humanity may not be as dead as he thought it was. It's been stirring more and more since he found out Buffy was alive and having to end the child's suffering made him realize he can't go on like this. Hee... love your guesses.
