Wow those slayers sure are b*tches.

A fantastic chapter: you really have an intense hold on the intricacies of Spike and his character make-up. The bloody basher, the senstive soul (even when soulless) and the only person in the whole of canon who knew the true meaning of the word 'loyal'. To a fault, maybe, but it was that redeeming and most times unappreciated feature that took Spike - kept Spike - on that Buffy trail. And now, here they are again ........ brilliant.

Author's Response: Thanks for the review. I don't know how well Buffy can discern reality from fantasy given her state of mind but we will see...

wow, this is very dark. and i can't i wasn't warned. will spike taunt her, torture her mentally as to her mistakes, or will he try to communicate with her, like he's tried to do so many times. and i fear where buffy's mind is - she's in no condition to deal with someone, spike especially, who has the power to break her even more. she'll lash out, and it won't be pretty. and she'll regret it, and ... she's not ready to deal with him, with herself. this is going to get so much worse before it gets better ...

Author's Response: Spike's reaction is sort of the ace up my sleeve so I can't say much except that he is the only person perhaps besides Buffy who is angrier about what happened. Thanks for the review!

I have to say that, though well-written, I feel slightly sick. So, if you were going for a big impact you definitely got it. That said, I do hope that things go better from here on out. And it is hard to imagine the depth of hate that would make anyone do this to anyone regardless of their reason. I hope that things get a lot better for Buffy fast. And--any hope that she'll magically get her leg back? This was pretty tough stuff to read.

Author's Response: I appreciate your honesty. This is something that has been bubbling in my head for a while and I wanted it to be visceral. I felt like Season 8 was an intentional destruction of Buffy in a way. She went from being this general of an army, purposeful and in control to a girl who had Twilight invading her. I feel like this place, where she is physically broken is the reflection of where the comics were going. That said, this will be a positive story. The best thing about Buffy and Spike is that they are intensely resilient and indomitable. I hope that you will keep reading.
