So a portal already has to exist, for annie being able to open it?
But why did the initial portal then didn't go back to that moment of giles decision...oh wait, cos time in unexpected moved on, it did there too? If thats the case, i am starting to get the hang of it.
Thanks for the additional explanation!

Author's Response: Yes - exactly. The portal must already exist for Annie's blood to open it. It must be there, waiting for a 'key' to open it. A portal is created in the spot one of these key decisions is made and the new universe spins off. If you recall in canon, Dawn bled plenty, but only when she bled over Glory's portal did it have any effect. And yes, time has moved on in both universes, so it's not a time-travel thing. It's like certain decisions, which create new worlds, make doorways between those worlds at the same time. The doorways are closed until something magical opens them- a spell could perhaps do it, or Key blood. It gets a bit confusing and convoluted, I'll agree. Even I have to think about it before using the logic. Hope that makes sense.

Love that our (not so) little family is back together again.
Am just puzzled by something. I know we dont know yet what happened in the giftless universe, but how would that have any effect on annies blood opening a portal to it? - the accident still happened obviously

Author's Response: Hey aly! Ok, so, my theory on the portal is this: It was created when realities split when Giles had the decision to let Ben live or not. (New worlds/realities are created at some key decision points). That decision point made the rift through the worlds in that spot. If that event did not happen in the NEW Giftless universe, then the realities did not split and no portal was created for Annie to open when her blood spilled. Also, of course, if that whole reality changed, there was no giant pussy for Tara to send to the Unexpected Universe for Spike, Angel, and Bess to fight. Does that help at all? Thanks so much for reading and stopping in! The angst is not over yet ... just a warning. :)

Buffy is traumatized now that things have been set to rights. Annie has her legs, Angel is with Cordelia, but what about the scroll that they took from the giftless world? Will she overcome her fears with Spike's help? Will they find the gem they need for Bess?

Author's Response: oooooo - you have zeroed in on the one big question that I'm not sure anyone else has asked about: The scroll from the Gift-less world.... Excellent! Before we get to that, first we need to find out if Spike can get her out of this self-destructive behavior and get to the bottom of it. We'll be exploring Buffy's sub-conscious coming up ... gonna be a crazy ride. Thanks so much for reading - always love your reviews!

“No — I’ve never hated you. I’ve been annoyed with you, cross with you, mad as hell with you. I’ve wanted to throttle you several times, and there was once or twice I desperately wanted to kill you, but I’ve never hated you.” -- Indeed, the definition of soul mates. Glad she's finally opening up, even if she's not sure what she's opening. Loved her freaking out with the bats. An interesting problem, and no easy solution, and those kids will forever have the "Batty Mom." Least their dad is still cool. :) And after all that reset, I wonder what happened to the scroll that Annie brought back with her? Things are better, but Buffy sure isn't. Can't wait to see what happens next! Update soon!

(Also, I think it would be quite awesome for you to put together the whole Spuffy tree on a website. So many things to keep track of here. :))

Author's Response: Hi BR! I'm so glad you liked that line! I was really pleased with it myself- it sounded so perfectly Spike when it came out of my muse's evil brain. I'm seeing Dani having to beat someone up in the future for calling her mom 'batty' ... :) And yes, they still have the coolest dad! I think all their friends will be wanting to do sleep-overs at the Weckerly's as they get older! :P Oooo!! And you picked up on the other main point of this whole story : THE SCROLL! Where is the scroll?! Did it go back? Can Buffy and Spike find it by delving into Buffy's sub-conscious? We will find out - it might take a couple of chapters to get through it all.
I will definitely work on a page with all the universes we've covered and all the key dates, events, birthdates, full names, etc. of everyone on it. I couldn't do it before this re-set because the one I drew had that spoiler in it showing the redo that Gift-less!Spike will get. I also promise to show what happened there. I've written it as a kind of 'crossover' story, so anyone can read it, although they won't have all the background loyal Unexpected readers will have, it will be enough to be understandable. I won't start posting that for a little while, though. It's not gonna be super long, maybe 10-12 chapters - I already have an epic, don't need another! :)
Thanks BR! Awesome review! Love that you asked about the Gem!

I don’t know if I can handle them having trouble in their relationship. The worry over their relationship falling apart will definitely be more than I can take so I hope you make this better soon. Thanks for the long update, more soon please.

Author's Response: Hi Melly! Spike won't let up on this, even though Buffy will try to get out of sharing (again). There will be tears, but things will start to heal for her and between them soon, so don't fret. There's fun to be had later, so good things to look forward to - FINALLY! :)

Thanks so much for reading and always stopping in!! I love hearing from you!

I am so glad that it worked or is it a dream no can't be a dream because its not perfect Buffy has residual feelings. I can't help but wonder about the Gift-less dimension turned out, does that Spike remember anything or is he like this Buffy with a feeling but not able to understand.

Author's Response: Hi Blue Eyes! I can assure you it was NOT a dream. I like using dreams, but I think I always tell you its a dream (before or after) or at least do something outrageous that allows you to figure it out. Going through a whole story and having it be a dream at the end is not something that you'll find I do, just 'cos I hate that when I'm reading a story. We will find out what happened in the Gift-less dimension with that Spike later, I promise. We'll also find out why Buffy still has these strange fears and feelings when no one else does, very soon. Thanks so much for reading and stopping in! Love hearing from you!
