There are so many things that are wonderful about this chapter, starting with the fact that there are some things you just can't put past a small child. Glad to see her distress makes them both care, even if they try to pretend that they don't. And that book! One way or another it could rewrite history... or cause some to repeat it. Love Spike's passive aggressive interest in it, too. Don't think someone is as immune to pouty blonds as he'd like to be. And the little old lady during Buffy's grocery store break down, if only that scene would have really been in the show... could have been a classic. Love it. So glad there's more waiting for me!!

Author's Response: I think children are often more perceptive than adults give them credit for. :) The book excerpts are so much fun to write! For Spike, it's kind of like that feeling you get when you really don't want to know something, but at the same time you can't help yourself and search for it anyway. He'll have to acknowledge sooner or later that he's indeed not immune to her charms. ;) So awesome that you liked that grocery scene!! I had a lot of fun writing it. *g* Thank you for the lovely review!!

how was it that Buffy was losing an argument to a five-year-old Good genes, hers and Spike's combined. *gg*
Lesson for Spike too - giving her sugar *gg* He suffered a lot. *grins*
What a bag of Marshmallows can do. :)
Enjoyed the update - and I'm not so late this time.

Author's Response: Buffy is helpless in the face of such a lethal combination of genes. ;)
Feeding a child too much sugar? Never a good thing. lol
Peace offerings come in many forms. Sometimes they're pink, edible and fluffy.
Hee, glad to hear it! I'm updating more right now so when you check next time, you'll find a new one. :)

I love that Spike's prose reads like a bodice-ripper, it's so fitting. Also that regular-Spike's so into it.

So Emma's wise to her parents' lack of loviness and smoochies, continuing to make things awkward for everyone. Also, Spike is remarkably tolerant of her deciding to make him pretty. Must be the lack of magic restraining his demon. Yes, that's it.

As always, eagerly awaiting more!

Author's Response: Haha, I've never thought of it that way, but now it totally amuses me. Spike reading a boddice-ripper novel. *giggles* Well, what can you expect from a vampire who loves soap operas?

She's a smart cookie, and she will use it to her advantage. Yup, it's totally the lack of magic that Spike's going all soft on her. Yup. ;)

More soon, promise. :) Hope you'll enjoy it!!

Love this story! Snipey Spike & Buffy are my favorite. You've really captured their "voices". Can't wait for an update.

Author's Response: Thank you so much!! :) You're lovely for saying that. More shall be up very soon, promise.

Wow..
Book by William Pratt. A little too close to home for Spike.
enjoying

Author's Response: Oh yeah, definitely. They might be from different universes, but they are kind of the same person at the core.
Hope you'll enjoy the next one as well! :)
