I'm a twenty-something-year-old who's been a BtVS (and associated Joss Works) fan since season 1, aka when I was in the fourth grade. Which is kind of scary-long-ago now that I think of it, and I'm starting to realize that maybe I had pretty cool parents to let me watch a show like this when I was that young.
Aaanyhoo, fast forward about a decade; I started writing fanfic when I was a teenager under the penname 'Funky Chicken'. If you want an idea as to the quality of my writing back then, just re-read that word in the previous sentence: teenager. Heh, yeah. I eventually ran out of steam as a writer (assuming I had steam in the first place)- but not as a BtVs/Spuffy fan, and took a seat in the bleachers to watch the awesome show that so many fantastic writers out there put on.
Anyhoo, I'm kind of sort of back now... although I'm sure it will be a gradual return. More of the tortoise than the hare in terms of crossing the finish line. I'm primarily thinking of re-working a few of my old and fics now that I have a somewhat more firm grasp on concepts like 'plot' and 'characters' and actually planning out a story rather than just saying 'GO' and hoping I get somewhere...
So, that's me (as a writer) in a nutshell; nothing too spectacular. I only hope I have something mildly useful to contribute to a fandom that's been near and dear to my heart for about a decade and a half now.
