i liked how you used the letter to describe buffy's routine and life at the camp, and it's good to see that she's getting along with willow. spike's really mean to her, and even if i do think he wanted her to move on (just for selfish reason i bet), i don't think he saw that coming. i'm wondering if he is more pissed cuz she beat him or cuz she won't be punished for this... :D

Yeah, I figured Buffy's letters were a good way to include some of the military stuff without making it read too terribly dry, especially using soe of that valley girl voice to describe it. Oh Spike is most definetely hapy over her break up, even if he is the King od D-nile right now. He's a good DS though for helping her to channel it, too bad it cost him a blow to his ego and a bloody nose, *giggles*. i liked this chapter so much! spike's obviously worried about lindsay, but it's clear (well, maybe not to him) that he is quite jealous of how buffy interatcs with lindsay, and with the other men in general.

of course, it's all his fault... lol. And 'poker night' just shows that: buffy can treat him normally, and even enjoy his company when he is not acting like a total jerk. and i love when she get the upper hand... and i suspect spike likes that too!

so he had just realized he picks on her cuz he likes her? kinda like a 4yrs old that pulls the plait of the pretty girl at recess? oh, that's cute!

ok, maybe not for buffy. but if he's gonna keep his word (cuz he did lose!) i think buffy will be more frustrated at him ignoring her! lol

Spike is most definetely the jealous type, even if he won't admit it to himself and he's very much attracted to Buffy's strength and personality. She's sort of slowly worked her way under his skin, in a good way, before he even knew it. i'm wondering if buffy will go out with him or not. i mean... right after the bathroom incident, the answer could be just one.but i think that the last meeting with him, and her talk with gunn could inluence buffy's decision.

either way, a 6 week break will be soooo good for both of them... especiallly if they go out together and spike manages to keep his mouth shut all along! lol

it's good to see you didn't deny her love for angel. i think the it was real, and powerful. This is the main reason cuz buffy can't/doesn't want to fall in love anymore. And spike is the only one who could teach her to love again.

Author's Response: Nah, I'm a realist unfortunately. I really don't like character bashing, and if I've managed to do that in my fics, it's been unintentional. I think ALL first love is powerful. It often shapes how our romantic lives continue. So while I don't believe it was more than first love, I DO believe it had a huge impact on her. She DID love him. I''m just unconvinced it was based on anything much, but then my first love wasn't either and I allowed far too many concessions there than was reasonable. I'm not sure about writing in Spike's POV. I'm sure it will likely swap back and forth. I don't consciously set out to write any particular way. It just comes out. But I would definitely assume that Spike will pipe up, lol! this first chapter is great, i loved the insight on spike's "rejection". and buffy's determination to be there for him was touching. i liked too that she pointed out that he was the only one that didn't abandon her like the others did.

can't waint for the next stage!
