I hate to be picky, but I thought you might want this inconsistency pointed out: in this chapter Spike comments that he died in a pillar of fire to save the world (and got better)... but you started the story with the First being defeated in a different way, with Spike never having to wear the amulet. Am I missing something? However I am really enjoying the story as a whole!

Sniff, sob, goofy grins a s o. I thought this fic is a nice, long and satisfying make-belief variation of Joss' universe!
But there is one or two slips, I forget which chappies,. One is in Spike's snarking with Angel when they're discussing the right thing to do at W&H. It's when you're just citating the original phrasings, I think. He's referring to being burnt to a crisp and returning from that. Which you never let happen.
And then there's Buffy's dialouge with Whistler in Cleveland, when she say's something about two vampires dying and coming back, which in your story only applies to Angel. I point this out, because it's a pity, when everything else is mostly op to par!

This is a wonderful story and I enjoyed reading it.

Wow. Nothin' really to say. Very powerful moment there, understanding why she had to die, knowing what had to be done, accepting it and giving herself one last moment with Spike. You really need some kind of hanky warning on this one. I've gone through a couple already. Wonderful writing.
