God, Buffy can be so stupid. I did have a hard time believing that Spike wouldn't be more upset about Buffy pulling the outraged act when it seemed that they were just seconds away from doing the deed, esp being Mr. Walking Hard-on for so long. But that's probably just me, LOL! Looking forward to reading more.
Author's Response: I'd say he's more resigned. It's my theory that on some level he thinks he deserves her rejection, plus his whole self-proclaimed "Love's Bitch" thing. (Observe how much crap he took from Drusilla). But he also has his pride, hence the telling her off bit. I try to stay close to canon as far as characterization goes, finding the motives behind their behavior. And we all know Spike is a big ol' softy at heart - which is why we love him. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it... :D
